WASHINGTON -- Authorities monitored a rush of intelligence leads Tuesday at the largest security operation in presidential inauguration history, including a possible threat from an East Africa radical Islamic terrorist group.

Law enforcement and intelligence officials received information that people associated with a Somalia-based group, al-Shabaab, might try to travel to the U.S. with plans to disrupt the inauguration, according to a joint FBI/Homeland Security bulletin issued Monday night. The information had limited specificity and uncertain credibility, said Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke.

U.S. counter-terror officials have grown concerned in recent months about the threat posed by the militant al-Shabaab group and a cell of U.S.-based Somali sympathizers who have traveled to their homeland to "fight alongside Islamic insurgents," the alert reported.

WOW!!! So many RATs eliminated in one fell swoop. Now THAT would be something to celebrate!!

It was mostly Democrats killed in 9-11. Still celebrating that one?

No matter what you think of the politics, any action against the office would be a declaration of war against the US. Prayers for our vigilant people in law enforcement.

“I’ll bet you those 50 cents that woman was an Obama voter”

by the looks of her, I’d say you were right. Probably first time she’d ever voted.

How about really skinny black guys carrying RPGs?

Authorities would have to have a 100% positive ID on the RPGs, and then obtain permission from CAIR and Jesse Jackson before proceeding further.

but truth be known..... Bama is a westerner. A Christian.

Allegiance is a funny thing. The shoe bomber was a westerner too. A guy who holds his balls while others recite the Pledge of Allegiance is a not one that I think you can be sure of.

Okay, but remember, no racial or ethnic profiling allowed. And certainly no stereotyping or displays of Islamophobia.

Here are some of the suspects that have already been detained...

I’ve got two TVs flipping between channels and still would not have known without your thread. The networks don’t seem to be covering this.

Why would an East African Islamic terrorist organization want to threaten one of their sympathizers?

To create chaos. Certainly after the antigovernment 9-11 truther movement, there would be yet more conspiracy theories about how it wasn't really Somalis etc.

Currently watching the coverage on Fox.I’m not sure if i’m still in shock or just numb from all the hype but i’m watching and listening to the commentators on Fox and everyone is so positive.I feel rather detached.Anyways-I certainly hope the inaguration and swearing in proceed safely, orderly and w/out any difficulties.However-only hypothetically speaking(!)-a terrorist attack or attempt would highlight the threat from terrorism.I’m assuming BO will want to close Gitmo, restrict electronic surveylance, and at the same time nueter our intelligence organizations.Pretty hard to deny or minimize the threat when the entire media are present.

“Those of us that post here at FR obviously voted for somebody other than Obama. For good reasons.

That said....I can’t think of much else that would piss us all off than some kind of attack on this day.”

Amen....
May everyone there be safe...
