Arabs and Muslims give Obama benefit of doubt on new way (U.S., you voted in a terrorist supporter)

Arabs and Muslims gave the benefit of some doubt on Wednesday to U.S. President Barack Obama's offer of "a new way forward" with the Muslim world, but many said it would take deeds rather than words to convince them.

After eight years of President George W. Bush, who invaded two Muslim countries and gave strong support to Israel, Arabs and Muslims watched Obama's inaugural speech on Tuesday closely for any sign that U.S. policy toward them will change.

With some exceptions on the fringes, a clear majority said they welcomed a new tone from Obama, who promised relations based on mutual interest and mutual respect.

"This is a speech that reflected a new spirit of dialogue, reaching out and working together. This is a new direction that is certainly not what the Bush administration has been pursuing," said former Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher.

Hilal Khashan, political science professor at the American University of Beirut, noted Obama's reference to Muslims as a significant part of the patchwork of the United States, an attitude not common in U.S. political discourse.

In fact, American Muslims overwhelmingly supported Bush in 2000.

Bush derangement syndrome lives on. What did President Bush do? Basically “his” invasion of Iraq STOPPED the slaughter, torture, rape, and general butchery of tens of thousands of Moslems in that ONE country. Closed are the rape rooms, the torture chambers, and detention centers. OPEN are the mass graves, where a battered people search for definitive knowledge about the fate of their loved ones. Pres. Bush “invaded” another country to stop the atrocities of the TALIBAN...zealots who to this day blow up the schools and rooms where young girls for their future. Amazing how the “women’s movement” in the USA will champion the rights of a young woman to have an abortion, but remain totally silent when that young woman in blown to pieces by a Taliban bomb blowing up her class room. I notice a rampant NEW epidemic in the land....one called “SELECTIVE compassion.” Sympathy for the politically correct...else there is the sound of “yawning in the land.” When the late condemned government of Ian Smith controlled Rhodesia, the left of this country was apoplectic...the nasty whites were to be “driven from the land and erased from history”. Now that the land is called Zimbabwe, a “yawning in heard across the land” as tens of thousands die from starvation in a land that was recently the breadbasket of south central Africa. Millions sicken from malaria, AIDS, and general brutality. Hurrah, white rule is overthrown, now who cares what happens to those people. Now we enter a “New World”. God help the inhabitants thereof.

This should not come as news.

Palestinian Analyst says Obama’s Speech to AIPAC was Taqqiya (Deception) (IsraPundit 06/10/08 Bill Levinson)

Barack Obama is a Muslim, Says Libya's Qadhafi (Sept. 7, 2008)

Not west's action or inaction but Arab Muslim media incite the Muslim street (Posted on Thursday, December 28, 2006)

The truth matters not to the arab street, their newspapers are filled with lies and propaganda. And when the people cannot read English, they have few other resources to challenge the state run media.
