Rush Limbaugh profile: The Most Dangerous Man in America?
Times (London) ^ | January 26, 2009 | Catherine Elsworth

Posted on 01/27/2009 5:54:37 AM PST by Zakeet

The 58-year-old's daily three-hour radio show, which has been running for 20 years, is syndicated to 600 stations across the US and attracts an estimated 20 million listeners a week.

The Right-wing host has been hailed as a Beatles-esque phenomenon for pioneering talk radio and is seen by fans as a refreshing alternative to the mainstream media - or "liberal media", as Limbaugh dubs it - for his outspoken, sometimes satirical, partisan diatribes.

Critics, however, view his broadcasts as divisive and inflammatory political propaganda, even dangerous demagoguery.

Time magazine's Mark Halperin has labelled Limbaugh an "American iconic" figure. Meanwhile Arianna Huffington, a staunch supporter of President Barack Obama, dubbed Limbaugh and other conservative commentators "toxic curiosities".

Limbaugh appears to relish such notoriety. One of his many soubriquets listed on the official Rush Limbaugh website is "the Most Dangerous Man in America". Others include: "America's Anchorman; America's Truth Detector; the Doctor of Democracy; the All-Knowing, All-Sensing, All-Everything Maha Rushie; defender of motherhood, protector of fatherhood and an all-around good guy".

Limbaugh broadcasts from a studio in Florida he refers to as a "heavily fortified bunker" and features no guests on his shows, which are often monologues interspersed with listeners' calls or off-microphone comments from his long-time producer.

Lib-Loons better get used to this toxic curiosity because his listening audience will more than double over the next four years of Barry, Harry and Nancy.

“Critics, however, view his broadcasts as divisive and inflammatory political propaganda, even dangerous demagoguery.”

These would be the same sensitive fair minded critics who laughed heartily at suggestions to kill Republicans (”sniper wanted” and “go to Hyde’s house and stone him”).

Airyheaded Huffington doesn’t belong in this article.

They must have Rush confused with Olberman.

Because he represents the apex of what the Free Market is all about, and because he has an audience of 20 million listeners he can explain it to...Rush is the most dangerous man in America to marxists and wanna-be tyrants like Obama and his ilk.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

NOW WE KNOW WHAT A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER DOES

OBAMA, THE STOCK MARKET, AND ENERGY

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IN HIS OWN WORDS

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA'S UPBRINGING

Actually, Catherine, that would be "drive-by media"...

16 years ago with Clinton and democrats 93 he was the ONLY voice! republicans had more cards as minority then, and he made it fun.

He he he, I just love watching the libs froth at the mouth when they think of Rush, much less hear him. Of course the edict coming down from the Messiah to stop listening to him delighted Rush and his followers.

Never have we heard Rush advocate violence.

Never have we heard Rush advocate breaking any laws.

Never would we have believed that the day would come when the ordinary exercise of free speech, standing alone, is called “divisive” or “dangerous”.

It is those who would silence such speech who are divisive and dangerous.

Regardless of the hysterical prose of the press, Rush cannot be considered a “demagogue” because he has no political movement, and he’s not a political leader and doesn’t want to be - unlike the certified demagogue in the White House right now. But even expressing opinions that do not consist of praise for the Great Leader will now be considered “toxic” hate speech or political incitement to overthrow Bambi or some such thing. I fully expect Rush to be removed from the scene, one way or another. They’ll find a way.

This ditz just couldn't end the article without a reference to his Michael Fox comments. I guess she ran out of room and couldn't bring up his pain killer problem.

As far as wanting Obama to succeed, if any conservative says they want him to succeed then they have forfeited their conservative credentials, period...

Most libs I know HATE Rush......though they’ve never even listened to his show over 5 minutes in their lives. They usually just go on what their other ‘libtard friends’ say about him. No ‘critical thought’, there.

telling the truth about the liberal agenda and exposing the socialistic agenda before it happens to have the American citizen be aware of politics today. They hate being exposed! The MSM's ever growing and becoming more popular nemesis

When, oh when, will the MSM understand the truth of Limbaugh’s success and huge audience. People, those of us who are mis-labeled as his followers, turn on his program, NOT because we agree with him. Rather, Rush has the brilliance and knowledge to agree with US. He says, in better ways, the very things that I believe. He says, in a witty way, the thoughts that come to mind as we read and hear the nonsense of the day from the Political World. Rush Limbaugh is a REFLECTION of his audience, NOT the other way around.

Rush is conservative, and therefore, dangerous.

If conservatives had a badge of honor, "most dangerous man in America" might just be it.

I honestly doubt it. They've already tried everything and only made fools of themselves. Socialists are particularly afraid of ridicule, so short of an air strike on his house, or completely jamming all AM channels in North America, I doubt that they'd risk it.
