BLANKLEY: Obama's 'blank screen' (Beware of Deception, New Nationalism)
The Washington Times ^ | January 27, 2009 | Tony Blankley

Posted on 01/27/2009 6:40:39 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

OP-ED:

President Obama is a beguiling but confounding figure. As he has said of himself: "I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.” (”The Audacity of Hope.”) It is indeed audacious that he should proclaim this consciously disingenuous attribute. And, as one reads his inaugural address, it is hard not to conclude that it was shrewdly crafted to perpetuate such confusion.

Run-of-the-mill politicians try to hide their duplicity. Only the most gifted of that profession brag that they intend to confound and confuse the public. Such an effort is beyond ingenious - it is brazenly ingenuous.

And it is working. Many of my fellow conservative commentators are embarrassingly eager to search Mr. Obama's words, groveling for hopeful signs that he is not a radical intent on changing the face and nature of our republic. Some of our Tory conservatives have clung to his words (”hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism-these things are old. These things are true”) as evidence of a deep conservatism.

I was thinking Wil Smith, as Paul, in Six Degrees of Separation.

“The Washington Post E.J. Dionne, who wrote last week that “President Barack Obama intends to use conservative values for progressive ends.”

It is staring everyone in the face. Why can’t all of our conservative ‘leaders’ see it?

RE “Some of our Tory conservatives have clung to his words (”hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism-these things are old.

Because Obama is a very smart politician that knows how to use words to trick the public. GWB couldnt even honestly explain what he is doing, let alone talking points like this (yes, I know the media is giving BoB a free pass and after 2003 stayed on Bush every minute.) Socialism is the opposite of self responsibility, it is collectivist responsibility, “We all are in this together” means steal one persons money and give to another.

Oddly, my suspicion is confirmed by my liberal friend, scholar and columnist for The Washington Post E.J. Dionne, who wrote last week that “President Barack Obama intends to use conservative values for progressive ends. He will cast extreme individualism as an infantile approach to politics that must be supplanted by a more adult sense of personal and collective responsibility … And in trying to do all these things, he will confuse a lot of people.” Perhaps E.J. hopefully, and I suspiciously, have both misread Mr. Obama. But one is entitled to be suspicious of a politician who openly brags that I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.”That strikes me as a conscious intent to deceive in order to diffuse opposition to his designs until it is too late to block them. Ronald Reagan never hid his policy intentions from public view. Neither, in fairness, did Lyndon Johnson or Walter Mondale or Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi.

Nailed It!

My husband and I watched ‘Being There’ a few weeks
before the inauguration.

The similarities between Chauncey and BO are startling!

Another prescient film, ‘Network’, is worth an annual viewing
as well.

Yet another astute article from a conservative voice. The last week there have been many; it is a pleasure to come to FR again...I had to take a break after the November ass kicking!

Anyone else finding that there have been some terrific op eds lately?

Absolutely nailed it...

John T. Flynn may have also nailed the current situation down about 60 years ago, writing about another socialist, FDR...

Chapter 4 - The New New Deal

In the beginning, of course, was Roosevelt. And then came the Brain Trust. After that we had the Great Man and the Brain Trust. The casual reader may suppose this is just a catch collection of syllables. But it is impossible to estimate the power these few words exercised upon the minds of the American people. After all, a crowd of big business boobies, a lot of butterfingered politicians, two big halls full of shallow and stupid congressmen and senators had made a mess of America. That was the bill of goods sold to the American people. Now amidst the ruins appeared not a mere politician, not a crowd of tradesmen and bankers and congressmen, but a Great Man attended by a Brain Trust to bring understanding first and then order out of chaos.

Actually there are no big men in the sense in which Big Men are sold to the people. There are men who are bigger than others and a few who are wiser and more courageous and farseeing than these. But it is possible with the necessary pageantry and stage tricks to sell a fairly bright fellow to a nation as an authentic BIG Man. Actually this is developing into an art, if not a science. It takes a lot of radio, movie, newspaper and magazine work to do it, but it can be done.

Exactly, he is a screen projecting what gets programmed into his prompter.... Who is the programmer?

Who is the programmer?

Our enemy within, the Communists as represented by Saul Alinsky, Bill Ayers, George Soros, etc.

The fact that Obama has no discernible paper trail of votes or papers in either the Illinois legislature or U.S. Senate are all part of a well planned operation as described by Blankely. The fact that ACORN and sister groups have for years been corrupting our voter registration rolls and casting illegal votes, the stealing of elections as attempted by Gore and achieved by others, including Al Franken, are all part of this plan to take over America.
