WHOSE SIDE? Cass Sunstein's theories on cost-benefit analysis align him more with conservatives, critics say. Cass Sunstein, selected to be Obama's regulatory czar, has labor activists and environmentalists digging into his record.
Reporting from Washington -- Harvard Law School professor Cass R. Sunstein, a widely admired intellectual and friend of President Obama, has spent years delving into the obscure issues of regulatory law and behavioral economics.
Though he is generally described as left of center, Sunstein's academic interests in regulation have led him to raise questions about the constitutionality of liberal favorites such as workplace safety laws and the Clean Air Act. He has embraced a controversial "senior death discount" that calculates the lives of younger people as having a greater value than those of the elderly.

"Professor Sunstein's long track record on regulatory issues is decidedly conservative..."

The left and the LA Times is blowing smoke for Sunstein. He's as conservative as Stalin, Trotsky, NOW or PETA. Who do they think they are fooling?
“senior death discount”
Let me know when the AARP starts having “buyer’s remorse.”
Let’s not forget Sunstein wrote Republic.com in the late ‘90s, a thinly veiled attack on this website, Free Republic, in which he made the ludicrous policy proposal that political websites of every hue be forced by legislation to provide links to all views that might be construed as oppositional to those proffered on the site.
Sunstein is a liberal with a strong bent towards gov’t regulation. The stuff I’ve read in the last few days suggesting that he’s a closet conserative strikes me as absurd.
Just another Marxist jackass for the Obomba stable.
Kill the old, kill the young....great public policy by this group.
Faces scrutiny???
From WHO???
The stool pigeons in the Democrat Party who rubber stamp Obama’s nominees??
The mental and moral pygmies in the GOP who need to keep their noses wiped from getting too close to the Obamanomenon???
Give me a break.
"All your unalienable rights are belong to me." Sass Cusstein, or whatever.
That sounds pretty liberal to me.
He also wrote the book “Nudge” which argues for “libertarian paternalism.” I wrote a paper criticizing it in college and my professor blasted me for it...which I expected from “academia.”
He’s also for Animal Rights. He wants us all to be vegetarians. And little Buttercup would be able to sue for those rights.
