That gal made the wrong person very mad. This sounds like retalliation for something. If only one person doused her and set her on fire, I could believe crime of passion of some kind but with two assailants and, due to the nature of the assault, I have to suspect that they were acting under orders.

Very little data to go on, but it *is* possible that she "made the wrong person very mad", simply by being what she is, an exotic dancer. Bear i mind that there are certain folks coming in with their own view of how things should be, and a track record of using violence to achieve their aims...

The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. when the unidentified victim was nearing the end of her shift at the Babes Sports bar located at 18454 Oxnard Boulevard. According to investigators, the victim was summoned outside of the bar to meet with two acquaintances. Once outside, her attackers poured a combustible liquid on her and set her ablaze. The victim ran back inside the bar where other patrons came to her aid.

The unidentified woman was taken to a local hospital where she is listed in grave condition. She suffered severe burns over 60 percent of her body.

The suspects took off in a metallic gold in color newer model four door sedan, police said. The motive for the attempted murder remains unclear.

Just looking at the names themselves matched with the photos...

She’s black and gaunt-looking with French-sounding names. Haiti? Or French Guyana? I’m going with Haiti, for my first guess.

He’s also black-and-something-else — Asian? Chinese? or Vietnamese? and has a Spanish-sounding surname. That one’s tougher to guess. Let’s see: Black mum and Philippino Dad?

Just my Scientific-Wild-Arsed-Guesses, but if my reasonable suppositions are right, neither particularly suggest membership in The Religion Of Peace.
