The Amish have cellphones?
Years ago, shortly after Best Buy came to town, I saw a a middle aged Amish fellow buying a scanner. Apparently they use them for their businesses.
Here is a link to a 10 year old story about Amish and cell phones:

Some Amish can use portable, gas-powered technology to pay off their mortgage. After that, they go cold turkey.
Oops. I forgot about battery powered, too. I haven’t seen any gas powered cell phones yet. Probably because they are hard to start in the north in the wintertime. Pulling that little rope wears you out, too. But I have heard of fuel cell powered laptops being developed.
I was in an Amish store in Michigan and I heard a phone ring. I was surprise and blurted out “but I didn’t think the Amish used telephones?” The store clerk appeared upset and said “we have to stay in touch”.
“The Amish have cellphones?”
CHEATERS!!!
Betcha that the Amish become the new ‘cool” before long.
That surprised me too, though I bought firewood from a Mennonite guy who had a cellphone and trailer with an hydraulic bed.
And extremely savvy businesspeople they are. They make use of modern technology in their daily work, I believe they're just not "allowed" to have it in their homes.
