Obama Already Breaking His Promise On Tax Hikes

During his recent address to Congress Obama said that people making under $250,000 wouldn’t pay a single penny in additional federal taxes. I called that statement Obama’s “read my lips” moment, and I’m right too. Obama is already planning a massive tax hike for all Americans, albeit an indirect one.

It’s called “cap and trade.”

In one of the budget’s most ambitious proposals, the president plans to cap the emissions of greenhouse gases, forcing polluters to purchase permits for emissions that would be slowly brought down to 14% below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83% below 2005 levels by 2050. The sale of those permits, beginning in 2012, would reap $646 billion through 2019. Of those revenues, $525.7 billion would be devoted to extending Mr. Obama’s signature “Making Work Pay” $800 tax credit for working couples. Another $120 billion would go to clean energy technology.

Obama’s cap-and-trade system means that every business that emits “greenhouse gases” (and that’s all of them unless some industry lobbyists are able to bribe Obama’s people into exceptions) has to purchase permission from the government to keep producing and stay in business. That additional expense is going to be passed on to the customers of those businesses (all of us), so it’s basically a tax. That all of us are going to pay.

Even those people who make under $250,000/year. Maybe especially those people, because they’re the ones not likely to be able to afford fancy boutique products from “green companies” that charge a premium for them.

Obama’s cap and trade system means more burden for our economy at a time when we want it to expand and create jobs and wealth. It means we pay more for goods and services. It means the government controls production in America.

None of those things are good.

He's also going to let the Bush tax cuts “expire” in 2011, which will be another massive tax increase. He has to raise taxes left and right to pay for his incredible spending, but he'll use Orwellian doublespeak to call it something else - and the MSM will cover for him.

The only thing that surprises me is the fact that it took him this long to do so.

And, the remaining manufacturing-type businesses will just plan to close shop and move overseas.

Obama is simply evil.

The drones need to wake up but i’m not hopeful-the liberal media is more powerful than ever-proven by the election of the empty suit.

Notice also that his campaign promise that “95% of Americans will get a tax cut.” Now, it’s “95% of working Americans will get a tax cut.” However, it still translates to “handout” to the poor. Someone could be technically “working” but only earn a dime, and still get a “handout.”

I think we need to move past being “let down” at broken promises and start resisting the take-down of our country.

Redefine: They’re not tax hikes, they’re “reversing tax cuts”

The government owns your entire salary and you better be damned happy to get whatever they allow you to keep.

.....and if you’re not, well, STFU or you’re off to the gulag.

Where are all those scientists that disagree with this nonsense? They should be shouting from the rooftops that this cap and trade is based on a utterly disprovable contention!

During his recent address to Congress Obama said that people making under $250,000 ..... People have the funny habit of hearing what they want to. What this socialist actually said was 'working families making over $250K......'

What is the subtle difference? Families implies two person filers - joint, usually....Just how would this affect, say, a single person? Try figuring half of that!...so it's really $125K....that hits an assload of these liberals in NYC making a professional wage...I wonder how much they're gonna cuss when they find out that $5.00 cup o Starbucks is out of their budget now......

Once you add all the new government fees, the tax bite will probably be 60-70% exclusive of state income and sales taxes...we are in for a very rough ride until people start responding back with things other than words.

Cap and Trade is outright theft in a bare disguise ,using fictional science as a mandate.

What Obama and the Democrats are doing is reminiscent of a time in America's past when small groups of businessmen ran very efficient businesses that relied on a highly organized labor pool. In contrast to other areas of the county where one third of the populace was employed, two thirds of the populace from which the labor pool came were employed. The employers had on-site nurseries, hospitals or sick rooms, paid for their employees food and clothes (over a lifetime the employees were able to keep around 90% of the value of the products they produced), provided single family dwellings and gardens, had regular days off as well as holidays (their typical hours/day, days/week were similar to other areas of the country), tested the employees and assigned them to areas of work the employers determined they were best suited for, and everything was fine as long as the employees enthusiastically supported the employers. The employers were at the vanguard of the scientifically-designed personnel management movement that later was adopted throughout the country. The location: the South. The organization? The large Southern plantation.

Look at how similar liberal socialism is to this. A small group of people determine what is the goal and arrange everyone else, for their own good, toward achieving the goal, providing for them from cradle to grave what has been determined to be necessary for achieving the maximum work output at the minimum of cost.
