I spoke with former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney at his hotel room the morning of his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference here in Washington. (He ended up winning the CPAC presidential straw poll.) Instead of the usual political horse race questions, I wanted to probe his views of our current economic environment and whether he thought Reagan-style free-market economics was dead. A couple of interesting notes: Romney sees the need for government money to help the banks, and he isn't a knee-jerk "suspend mark to market accounting" guy. But he also thinks the Obama administration doesn't quite get the fact that America exists in a global economy where it needs to a) compete with other nations, and b) take into account what investors think of our economic policies.
Here are some long excerpts from our chat:

You read the article, cut and pasted your reply, and hit post in less than two minutes? Impressive.
The other “cut-and-pasters” with their automatic replies will no doubt be along.
Romney was in a statistical tie with Gov.Jindal and GovPalin
and got only 20% to their 14 and 13%. (std dev. ~5%)
Romney being there (handing out $$$$ and promises) helped.
Gov. Palin did not even show up.
Wow. You’re right - that WAS quick. Too much free time?
Heh, I suspect he had that in a text snippet...:)
I don’t hate Romney like some people, I don’t think he is evil. He just is not what conservatives need, and while he would be a world better than Obama (damning with faint praise) he isn’t what the country needs.
I know all I need to know about Willard Myth Romney. He’s a lifelong liberal. See that was easy.
Hey! If you REALLY want people to oppose Romney, this ISN'T the way to do it nowadays on FR...:)
Exactly. Romney’s flawed judgment calls in the past show
that he is neither Conservative, nor to be trusted.
After actually looking at the article and the two posts above, it seems evident to me that some people are simply not interested in actually reading anything concerning certain persons because they already know what it so w/out regarding how ignorant it makes them appear in truth.
That “said” I will now go finish actually reading the Interview at the source.
It isn't? Okay, how about this.
>>>>>I agree. Screw Whitman and the Romney he rode in with.

BTW, did you read the Interview?
Yep, they will be along shortly.
Yes, I did.
Romney stated his usual platitudes of obviousness.
In fact, if you read my post #14 above, I was critical
that Romney supported the TARP bailout even with its
absence of transparency.
Did you read what I posted?
Did you read what Romney posted?
Do you agree with the bailout like Romney-theDNCpanderingRINO?
Do you agree with Romney that there is no need for
transparency?
So how is that Conservative?
GOOD GOD. Will you lighten up? I was JOKING!
Sheesh...you need to take a break, FRiend.
Insane Romney (actual quote from the cited article):
"I do want to make one point as well: Republicans believe in regulation. "
Carpetbagger, GOP-Backstabber, Uber-Liberal, Chameleon Mitt Romney gaffaws with fellow Democrats
as he imposes socialized medicine (RomneyCARE=HillaryCARE) showing Obama how regulation can be done.
Reagan Man, did you read my post? Particularly the italicized part up at the top?
