The US-China economic nexus is the most strategically important in the world today. The nexus is in danger of fraying as US Government dependence on Chinese money grows even as China now has more options for how it spends or invests its huge surplus than it did even 2 or 3 years ago. The Chinese have growing doubts about the wisdom of continuing to buy US Treasuries at their current enormous rate.

Well, we can always sell them Taiwan: they agree to buy bonds they know won’t be repaid, we agree to do nothing when they invade. Except for refusing to pay back the bonds, of course.

We are too big to fail. The Chinese will have to bail us out. Maybe when they do they will put caps on congress spending, their compensation and retirement packages and take away polousie’s jet

Can I ask a good question:
Why should they? So they can help Obama give money to ACORN so Jimmy Hoffa can vote in the next cycle?
Best,
Chris

As hard as it might turn out to be, many in this country need a big wake up call. The left are doomed to follow the marxist steps of those before them. When the commie Chinese are sounding less socialist/comunist than our current marixst leader, then it is time to really speak out.

The Chinese are now probably feeling that their massive Treasury holdings are going to get diluted and inflated away - just like our savings and retirement funds.

1. Where is China getting the money to loan us, anyway?
2. What will we (0bambi) offer China to keep the treasuries afloat?
3. What’s the going rate for military secrets?

ya know....if you have no job, no good credit, you can’t buy a car or house... USA has no credit.....that’s a good thing I think. I don’t like the idea of owing China anything, not even a stick of gum....

Who buys their exports if we are broke? If they don't sell their exports their unemployment rate goes up and the potential for mass uprisings grows. The commies know full well about their history of mass uprisings when things get bad.
The more likely scenario is that they will continue buying our treasuries, but with conditions.

Why should they? It's in their best interest. They keep a market for their goods, which keeps their people working. Also, the more dependent we become the more they can manipulate us in other areas.
If another large mkt opened up for them to sell their goods to they would probably drop us in a second.
