Irey approached to run against Specter
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | February 26, 2009

Several Republican conservative fundraisers have approached Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey to ask her to consider a primary run against Sen. Arlen Specter.

Sources confirm they have offered to help her raise money.

One strategist said of the close-door meeting the conservative group was particularly impressed that when Irey went up against Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Johnstown, in the 2006 midterm primaries, she was able to raise between $300 to $400K online.

If they both run, it’s suicide. If they care about their country, they’ll work it out and only one will run.

If Specatcle squeaks past the primary then vote for the Dem...(what's the difference anyway).

Fight like heck to get a conservative candidate but if Spector wins a primary, vote Spector. We'll never gain the majority unless we build on it one by one.

As undesirable as is Spector, he's still preferable to a RAT.

I'm sure Scaife and his minions at the Trib don't want a conservative for a senator.

Absolutely...along with a bunch of "conservative" republican fundraisers and office holders.

Think Gleason is pushing this?

I don't know the ins and outs of PA politics and have no idea if he is but wouldn't put it past him. The way he treated (guess I should say ignored) Irey was despicable. It was clear to me then he's no conservative and even wondered if he's a moderate Repub.

I was thinking more along the lines of a "moderate" RAT!

Well, you support the republicans positions.

Their position on Irey was to not help her fight against Murtha, I guess because she is too conservative like Dornan and Harris and all the other conservative candidates they have pushed to the sidelines.

Another reason why the GOP donations are taking a dive.

Yes, she is a joke to the republican party because they like to run RINOs.

Also, consider it's the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review beating this drum. They endorsed Murtha, remember?

Aha, good info.

Remember the NYT (I believe) "endorsed" McCain and the media and the democrats and open primary voters chose the GOP candidate for Prez last cycle.

Kiss of death to be 'nominated' by conservative enemies.

At what point will the retards over at the RNC understand that they need to run celebrities in order to win?

If one of the Steelers' from their hey day (Lynn Swann) doesn't cut it in PA, I don't think a has-been movie star is going to go anywhere.

Gleason’s an unprincipled pantywaist girlyman. As long as his palms are greased he’ll swing any which way.

I agree with you about Swannie, but the Steelers are the reigning Super Bowl Champs, they're in a whole new hey-day! :)

Samey same, no? An enemy is an enemy whether it comes before or after. Something like the ENEMEDIA! The could be called ENECONS or CONENES. ;*)

I gotta tell ya, if Sarah Palin and Diana Irey went to D.C. it would sure upgrade the looks department in that cesspool.
