The NHS is offering to reverse female circumcision amid concerns that there are 500 victims a year with no prosecutions
The NHS is to advertise free operations to reverse female circumcisions, with experts warning that each year more than 500 British girls have their genitals mutilated.
Despite having been outlawed in 1985, female circumcision is still practised in British African communities, in some cases on girls as young as 5. Police have been unable to bring a single prosecution even though they suspect that community elders are being flown from the Horn of Africa to carry out the procedures.

I didn’t have the stomach to read the whole thing, but it sounds like a “joy of Islam” problem. I did scan the article and couldn’t find one instance of the word “Muslim” or “Islam.” If female circumcision had been a Jewish or Christian tradition, I wonder if the writer would have mentioned it.

From my understanding of female circumciscion, the damage done is so great that I didn’t think it was irreversible. The object I thought was that the woman would never receive pleasure from sex...ie; isn’t the clitoris made non-functional? I am not a doctor, what do I know?
Please don’t include the word “men” in the same sentence as Muslim. The self-loathing incurred by the average Muslim male in certain countries is psychotic!

Actually I think the real issue is that they do not want their wives to experience sexual pleasure. I am guessing that there is not much to worry about in that respect.

Well put. The surgery would be cosmetic only and would be completely nonfunctional. Similar to the Addadictomy surgery that Rush has publicized.
Although cosmetic surgical repair of beheadings would explain how a few politicians came into being.
That is exactly what it does. In some socities in Africa and to a lesser degree the middle east a woman has no chace of ever marrying if she hasn’t been altered because they fear she will be loose so they make sure that she will never have any pleasure. It is mostly practised by Africans nowdays but some ME countries like Syria still do it. It is estimated that 80% of women in Egypt have been circumcised. I don’t understand why the femnists in this country ignore this sort of thing?
