Court Suspends Carry in National Parks

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Today, a federal district court in Washington, D.C. granted anti-gun plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against implementation of the new rule allowing concealed carry in national parks and national wildlife refuges.

Until further notice, individuals cannot legally carry loaded, concealed firearms for personal protection in national parks and wildlife refuges.

The court did grant NRA's motion to intervene in the cases. Under federal law, NRA is entitled to an immediate appeal, and NRA will exercise that right.

"Just as we did not give up the fight to change the old, outdated rule, we will not give up our fight in the courts to defend the rule change," said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. "We will pursue every legal avenue to defend the American people's right to self-defense."

Call the possible perps names.

That will show them.

This Obama guy is a real RAM since he has changed his job description isn't he?

Less Jay Leno cameo's anyway...

Oh, yea. The Cuda was captain and starting point guard on a state championship BB team. "bama was a second stringer, he scored two whole points in the state championship game which his team won, 60-28. Putting him in obviously wasn't a high priority for the coach.

Although the 'Cuda only scored one point in her state championship game, it put them up by 5 with 30 seconds lef. She played most of the game, and that with a bad ankle, . But as the newspapers of the day said, she “showed the Service Cougars what defense is all about.”. :)

I'll bet she knows a lot better how use her elbows than he does.

That would be fun to watch.

God willing and the creeks don't rise, we may get to do just that, come 2012, with the initial rounds starting...well they already have. )

Who's got the popcorn?

Is the Obama admin going to join the NRA in the appeal?

I'm thinking they won't.

Back east those parks are a couple hundred acres - the parks department also take care of the Washington parks and stuff. Here in Washington (state) the national parks are hundreds of square miles ... there’s also a national park right in the middle of a national forest where you ‘can’ carry a gun. Go figure ....

Like we’d tell ANYONE we have a gun when we’re in a National Park.

Exactly, that is the premise of concealed carry...

The argument is basically that they should have done an environmental assessment before changing the rules to allow carry.
