California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring said Thursday he will convene an executive committee meeting next month to decide the party's positions on the May 19 ballot measures.
The meeting comes as stark divisions remain within the state GOP on the proposals.
Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is spearheading the campaign drive. He is visiting editorial boards with Democratic leaders in tow, but also Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines and former Senate Republican leader Dave Cogdill, who was ousted in a caucus coup right before the budget passed last month.
While Villines and Cogdill have signed on to advocate for measures they helped place on the ballot, new Senate Republican leader Dennis Hollingsworth said Thursday at the Sacramento Press Club that he doesn't think they will pass. The Murrieta Republican and other conservative legislators oppose Proposition 1A, which includes $16 billion in temporary tax hikes.

The executive committee meeting will take place April 18 at the Sacramento Convention Center.

Exec Cmte meeting: April 18 Special Election: May 19 In the meantime, Arnold and his team are spending millions (including $650,000 from the GOP) to campaign FOR extended tax increases and the other Props. They've been on the road for already a week already. What a JOKE!
(I am posting the same comment anywhere I can to get some attention
It’s 4;00 in the morning and I could not sleep all night thinking about what the liberals are going to try to do to our country next week. Why are we not having a million + tea party Sunday? Have we given up and assumed we cannot stop this? I know most think we can’t, but what if every person in this country who is upset with this did something NOW before its too late. Having these parties next month is nice, but what good will they do? Pelosi/Obama couldn’t care less if all there work is already done. We conservatives are hard workers but bad planners. Yes, we will irate many people on April 15th, but to what end?
Am I alone in my thinking? I don’t want this thing to pass.
We will be living it shortly. Isn’t there something we could do? Phone calls all day Monday-millions. I’m just sick and scared.... Have you seen some of the things coming out and the power, big power grab by obama. He’s trying to control everything from the white house so he can become dictator. Someone help me out here.
The Ca GoP .. DOA.
I just received a fundraising letter today from Ron Nehring/CAGOP begging for money to “stop Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the liberal Democrats’ outrageous spending spree.”
Perhaps Nehring ought to look at SchwarzenKennedy/RINO-sellout glass house first, eh?
Think I can fit a few teabags in the return envelope?
Now that is funny, or would be if it weren't so sad. I got Michael Steele's long survey but gave up on it half way through.
Think I can fit a few teabags in the return envelope?
Just break open the bag and pour the tea in the envelope. It's not a Tea-bag-party, after all. LOL
I read this article last night and my jaw dropped. While Arnie and the Teachers Union spends millions travelling the state pumping their tax increases (errr... "reforms"), Nehring twiddles his thumbs and schedules a meeting almost a full month away. By that time, there won't be any time left for an effective anti-campaign, which therefore must be by design. On top of that, Hollingsworth is saying they probably won't pass and that he doesn't plan to campaign against them. I'd urge everyone to campaign against these things and drag their friends to the polls to vote NO! Apathy is how we got the bullet train to nowhere.
