Freedom Tower is a little corny, really.
I actually liked the original design. It was designed to evoke the Statue of Liberty and serve as a reflection of it. The 1776 feet was symbolic as well. The original architect's version fit well with "Freedom Tower".
However, various constituencies jacked around with the original design and converted it to a boring building with little symbolism at all. So I am fine with them changing it to whatever.
