SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Central American leaders will push the U.S. to slow a flood of deportations when Vice President Joe Biden meets with them Monday, promising a "new day for relations" with a region that has felt ignored...Costa Rica is the second stop in Biden's Latin American tour...Central American leaders agreed Wednesday to push the U.S. to include Guatemalans in a temporary visa program that is already in place for Salvadorans, Hondurans and Nicaraguans. They also want the U.S. to soften a deportation policy that sent a record 80,000 people back to the region in 2008 alone.
The deportations and U.S. economic downturn have hit the region hard. During the last quarter of 2008, money sent home by Central American migrants living in the U.S. fell 4 percent, compared to the same period a year previous, according to the Inter-American Development Bank. Remittances are a major source of foreign revenue for Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua....
During a visit to Central America last week, Deputy Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere Tom Shannon said Biden will work toward securing loans for Central American social projects from the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund....

Such madness!
gosh that’s a shame.
i was just looking at three mexican women pushing baby carriages the other day,
and wondering as i drove down a major street here
how much we paid for their food stamps and infant care.
White, blue-eyed greedy Americans have to much already.
I disappointed it only fell 4 percent. With so many Americans needing jobs there should not be an illegals sending money home.
A rising tide floats all boats but it’s a lot more fun knocking holes in the hull of ours.
“They also want the U.S. to soften a deportation policy that sent a record 80,000 people back to the region in 2008 alone.”
These Latin American governments are acting like they don’t WANT their people back. It’s like they don’t even care about them.
I am glad we deported 80,000 people last year. I think it should have been even higher. We’ve gotta get tougher. But with TOTUS in charge, our immigration policy will become like cotton candy.
In a perfect world, we would have a president who said “sorry, your trash, you deal with it, here they come.”
I don’t know where you live, but if you go to the Safeway or Giant in Bailey’s Crossroads, inside the Beltway northern Virginia, you will be able to get a pretty good idea of how much you are paying, because in those stores, more than half of the shoppers, without exception born in other countries, pay with food stamps and WIC checks. And about a third of those are members of a religion that wishes to destroy our country and kill us, some with as many as seven little mouths to feed. I will not horrify you with the percentage in the bodegas and “international” grocery stores.
I got a great one liner for ya Joe!
“NO”
Even Obama could conceivably sputter THAT out with out TOTUS.
Bailey’s Crossroads used to be a good middle class shopping center. Sounds like a cess pool now.
It’s coming and it ain’t going to be pretty.
Um, um, well, ah, em, umm.....NO!
Well then they the So American governments must slow our unwanted importation of them
Slow, hell, I doubt that they are deporting anyone.
This is more of the lily-white Euros, that run these Third World cesspools, wanting the US to take their mestizo and Indian populations.
All Latin American countries that push for illegal alienism for their peoples are guilty of “ethnic cleansing”
True, with rising unemployment in the US....we do not need Third Worlders taking up jobs and taking our welfare
Ping!
