Republicans Disinvite Palin to Major Fundraiser
Fox News ^ | Tuesday, March 31, 2009 | Chad Pergram

Sarah Palin is out and Newt Gingrich is in.

Congressional Republicans decided Tuesday to ditch the former GOP vice presidential nominee in favor of the former House speaker for the critical House-Senate fundraising dinner in June 8 in Washington. It's the marquee Republican event to raise money for GOP House and Senate candidates.

Just weeks ago, the House and Senate Republican campaign committees were giddy at securing the telegenic Palin for the dinner. But then things grew murky. At the time, the Alaska governor's office told FOX News that Palin was still considering the invitation and had not yet made a decision. Meantime, spokespersons for the committees insisted that Palin was scheduled and it was just a misunderstanding between the Alaska governor's office and Palin's political action committee, SarahPAC, that accepted the invite.

Sources familiar with the Palin snub fumed about how the governor handled this.

"She was a disaster," one Republican source told FOX News. "We had confirmation."

“Speaker Gingrich is a leader,” Spain added. ....................... Yeah, but they will slaughter him in an election. Maybe Palin will have better handlers. ???? I hope so.

I love Sarah but this won’t matter in the long run. We don’t need to over-expose her. She’s got a future somewhere in national politics beyond Alaska. It can be good for her to keep a lower profile for now.

Just curious? What in your opinion does she not have that Newt or others have?

When they said “We had confirmation” FROM WHO..from Sarah herself or from one of her “reps” if it wasn’t from her directly then its the fault of her handlers. She needs to drop the majority of them and keep two. No reason for 1 person to have 30 representatives

This Foxnews article is almost a copy of the Politico.com article from earler today.

Consider the source.

All this fuss over a dinner over 2 months from now. Two months is an eternity in politics.

Ask John McLoser.

It isn’t like this is the first time ... or the second time ... that there has been a ‘misunderstanding’ between Palin’s camp and a group that has invited her.

Sounds like folks are getting tired of getting burned.

Here we go again. Unnamed sources, "senior high-ranking officials", etc are all trying to make Palin look bad. Hey Republiclowns, Palin has a state to run, unlike you schleps who pretend to fight the Dems during the day only to have cocktails with them at night. The fundraiser isn't until fricking June. Can't you give her some time to make sure her calendar's clear before confirming from HER DIRECTLY?

These Republican hacks have been doing this to Sarah ever since the election ended. First it was CPAC how they tried to say she was a "confirmed" speaker when she was not. Then that Republican retreat or whatever they pulled the same s--t. I cannot stand the Republican Party leadership, they are completely out of touch with mainstream conservatives.
