Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and FOX News commentator Charles Krauthammer has won the 11th annual Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Journalism.
###
Krauthammer -- a regular panelist on FOX News' "Special Report" whose weekly column in The Washington Post is syndicated in more than 200 newspapers worldwide -- won the $20,000 award for depicting "love of country and its democratic institutions," the Eric Breindel Foundation announced Thursday.
"I was surprised and extremely gratified," Krauthammer told FOXNews.com. "I was very happy when I got the call. It means a lot because I knew Eric, he was a friend of mine and he was a courageous journalist. To win an award in honor of him is extremely gratifying."

"So many awards in journalism and other fields are so heavily dominated by what is politically correct," Krauthammer said. "That's why it's particularly important that there be awards like the Breindel Award, which defends American values unashamedly."

His latest:
Excerpt:
In fact, we are now so deep into government intervention that constitutional objections are summarily swept aside.
The last Treasury secretary brought the nine largest banks into his office and informed them that henceforth he was their partner. His successor is seeking the power to seize any financial institution at his own discretion.
Despite these astonishments, I remain more amused than alarmed. First, the notion of presidential car warranties strikes me as simply too bizarre, too comical, to mark the beginning of Yankee Peronism.
Second, there is every political incentive to make these interventions in the banks and autos temporary and circumscribed.
For President Obama, autos and banks are sideshows. Enormous sideshows, to be sure, but had the financial meltdown and the looming auto bankruptcies not been handed to him, he would hardly have gone seeking to be the nation's car and credit czar.
Obama has far different ambitions. His goal is to rewrite the American social compact, to recast the relationship between government and citizen. He wants government to narrow the nation's income and anxiety gaps. Soak the rich for reasons of revenue and justice. Nationalize health care and federalize education to grant all citizens of all classes the freedom from anxiety about health care and college that the rich enjoy. And fund this vast new social safety net through the cash cow of a disguised carbon tax.
one of the best in the business, if not the very best! Congrats Dr. K....
~~PING!
Congrats, Charles, you’re the best and deserve the award and more!
A well deserved winner, I may disagree with him from time to time but I always respect what he says.
Not enough people remember Eric Breindel. He was absolutely brilliant. He died much too young.
We’ve lost too many good people over the years, Breindel, Mike Kelley, Barbara Olson, Deborah Orin.
He is really funny too. When they were talking about Judd Gregg dropping withdrawing from the Commerce Secretary nomination he said that there were only two cool things about the Commerce Department. One was running the Census and the other was having a really awesome aquarium in the foyer of the building. Gregg withdrew because he realized that Obama was going to take over the Census and Gregg would only be left with the aquarium.
Indeed! His voice is sorely missed.
Levin and Krauthammer are my two current favorites.
It says a lot that we could lose so many and still have so many left, the aforementioned Levin and K..and MMalkin and TSowell, Coulter, Limbaugh as well. All are thinkers.
Good for Charles.
Missed that one ........ ;)
Thanks Star, I am a big fan of Krauthammer and see him most days on Special Report. Glad he got a justly deserved award.
It is delicious to watch Juan Williams making his comments while casting side glances at Krauthammer in anticipation of the big put down, the REBUKE! LOL
