Due to the domino effect that would create, Chrysler estimates 2 million to 3 million jobs would be lost nationwide within three years, reducing household income by $150 billion a year, and cutting tax collections by an average of nearly $40 billion a year."
The big two will be more healthy, now that the third hanger on is vaporizing.
I’m not buying the extent of gloom and doom, should Chrysler close. I also don’t buy all the bailout crap in any event. Let the automakers go bankrupt, some to reorginize and others to dry up.
I don’t recall the wording in the Constitution that Chrysler has to stay in business..
Why does Chrysler matter? Let me spell it out for you:
H-E-M-I
The real problem is that, unlike Circuit City, Chrysler’s work force pays union dues.
The supposed loss of jobs at the dealerships is rubbish. People will still be buying the same total number of cars, just not Chryslers and people will still be needed to sell and service them.
this guy must have money invested in cerberus.
I don't think they should be bailed out by taxpayers but I am surprised how many would say to hell with them so easily.
A good part of their failure is due to the US government and other nefarious organisms that have bled them to a point of not being able to compete in the market place and some see it fit to cheering it on.
Oh well, it's just another piece of American culture and what she stands for down the RAT hole, no biggie.
like we have to in order to sell in their countries. But they don't care.
These men call themselves conservatives and care nothing of the growing military threat of China and it's alliance with Russia.
They don't care the we will have no Steel and industrial strength left to defend ourselves from a Chinese attack once they destroy General Motors and the rest of the auto industry. And they don't care.
No bankruptcy can General Motors bring wages as low as Korea's or China or allow them to compete against German and Japanese cars brought in our country (tax free,) while the taxes double the cost of the few cars we export and to them.
All the car companies need are loan guarantees for daily operating capital.
Etc. and a tax on imported autos as they do on our auto exports.
I once owned a Dodge truck. When it was damaged in a wreck, correct interior replacement parts COULD NOT be bought! Why install them in manufacturing, if they can’t be bought later?
Die chrysler...gm too... stand on your own or die!

I have a serious question, what happens to the warranty on my 2008 Caravan I just bought in Nov.??????....You know the one with the lifetime powertrain yada yada..
I wonder, what will be the tipping point? Probably won't happen because the sheeple are still fat and happy. But if it does, watch out, it's going to be a very bumpy ride. Probably will get nasty too.

My mother had a Chrysler. The car kept stopping, the motor cutting out in the middle of traffic. The Chrysler dealer replaced the MAP sensor each time, 7 times. The 7th time, after personally insulting me and my mother, another dealer finally agreed to put the car back on the computer after replacing the MAP sensor once again. It turned out that the fuel mixture was too rich. They solved the problem by turning a screw, after years of pissing around and not bothering, years of insults and neglect.
Needless to say, I will never buy a Chrysler product as long as I live. I sincerely hope this company goes bankrupt, and that no one who works for them finds employment in the car business ever again.
Not to be insensitive, but I read where there are several hundreds of thousands of cars on ships in the ports (both our exports and imports), and nowhere to offload them. Do we really need Chrysler to start churning out more cars in an oversupplied market? In the industry that I work (Oil and Gas), we have a similar situation. There are hundreds of tankers tied up in the docks with no where to offload their crude. We have been forced to drastically cut drilling because we can not sell the product—there are hundreds of domestic oil companies that have been forced into bankruptcy (I suspect that we will lose 50% of our domestic producers in the next 3 years.) The Oil and Gas Industry will not be bailed out (nor do we want to be.) The net effect is that we will be importing 80% of our energy in the next 3 years instead of 60%. The whole point is, do taxpayers need to prop up the Union Jobs and Pension benefits of the Auto Industry..I think not (and I don’t give a damn that they all vote democratic.)
The only way Chrysler can survive is chapter 11.
I rented a car to go to Spring training and, because the mid-size I had requested wasn't available, Enterprise gave me a Chrysler 300.
When I returned it three weeks and 3,000 miles later, I was stunned that the big hawg had averaged 29.7 mpg.
Giving credit where credit is due...
I've worked at Chrysler's Dealerships for about 23 Years, and this is the biggest horse shit statement I've heard in a very long time. Unless you are talking about "Made in China" knockoffs crap!"
First and foremost, OEM's (Original Exchange Manufactured) parts for any type of manufacturer, is obligated contractually to manufacture exchange parts for at least 10 Years or longer from the time that particular model was canceled/terminated.
Furthermore the after-market parts business will be in high gear churning out exchange parts for the needed repairs.
Did I mentioned that Obama is taking care of the Warranty repairs on your automobile? Boy, is this not swell or what?...........
