Obama Names Pope-Basher to Faith-Based Initiative Board

President Barack Obama has named to the federal government’s faith-based initiative a gay-rights activist who, last month, described Pope Benedict XVI and certain Catholic bishops as “discredited leaders” because of their opposition to same-sex marriage.

Harry Knox, who is a newly appointed member of Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is the director of the religion and faith program at the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual activist group.

In addition to his remarks about the Pope, Knox also criticized the Catholic Knights of Columbus as being “foot soldiers of a discredited army of oppression” because of the Knights’ support of Proposition 8. The latter was a ballot initiative that amended California’s state constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman, and passed in November 2008.

Knox told CNSNews.com that he “absolutely” stands by his criticism of the pope.

"The Pope needs to start telling the truth about condom use," Knox said on Monday, Apr. 6. "We are eager to help him do that. Until he is willing to do that and able, he's doing a great deal more harm than good -- not just in Africa but around the world. It is endangering people's lives.”

On Mar. 19, Knox told the San Francisco-based gay newspaper The Bay Area Reporter, “The Knights of Columbus do a great deal of good in the name of Jesus Christ, but in this particular case [Proposition 8], they were foot soldiers of a discredited army of oppression.”

The newspaper further reported: “Knox noted that the Knights of Columbus ‘followed discredited leaders,’ including bishops and Pope Benedict XVI. ‘A pope who literally today said condoms don't help in control of AIDS.’”

Gay sex is bad hygiene, at best. But a lot of “straight” people defend it because their own sexual practices are just as perverted or “commitment” is a dirty word. I am convinced that a lot of guys are “gay.” because they can't find enough women to put up with all the stuff they want to do. Despite all the birth control women always have the thought that they can get pregnant, ad they know that if you do “it” too often you WILL get pregnant, and they will be “punished” by a baby or punished by the humiliation of an abortion.

This whole attitude is, of course, totally corrosive of the idea of family. How can one have or maintain a family when the only think holding it together as
the thought of pleasure. If that is the thought in your head, then even if you do marry, you are going to cheat, because nothing is ever enough. Family is a matter of loyalty, and to narcissists, loyalty is simply a word.

Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy declined an invitation, citing scheduling conflicts, a White House spokesman said. Dungy will still advise Obama on fatherhood issues and help lead that effort, the spokesman said.

Dungy, an evangelical Christian, supported efforts in Indiana to ban same-sex marriage in 2007, prompting some criticism from liberal groups last week when the invitation was made public.

Dungy had previously stated he would serve onthe board, but has now begged off. Note that it is the WH and their Poodle Pressthat is saying it was "schedule conflicts."

Yep, that's the plan. At least the Catholics will be more aware of this takeover because of the Internet, the Protestant "Ivy League" schools have been long gone for years.

This is the ultimate political correctness statement for liberals and progressive modernists infatuated with Obama. They thumb their noses at the Church. This is part of viewing Catholic colleges and their campuses as platforms for liberalism, to advance political causes. This is Liberation theology. As their propaganda lines go, the student "need to hear him speak" because of social justice issues X, Y, and Z. But the unborn are not just forced to the back of the bus, they are thrown under it.

In your face is exactly right. These secular/commies have a grip on all of these schools like a metastasized cancer. They are emboldened and shameless. I hope Catholics smack this down or they will be lose a major battle.

Protestants, even some here on FR, still think Harvard and some of the other founding Colleges are conservative based schools. It's an extremely crucial illusion for the secular/commie "ruling class" to have a degree from one of these institutions.

If this cannot be stopped, the best thing to do would be to very publicly wash your hands of this institution. Of course, then the church will receive false accusations of being racist...but that is already the case anyway.

Most of the universities are terrible. They pretty much ALL have Cultural Marxists and obnoxious secular liberals running the show except for a few small liberal arts colleges with Great Books type programs focused on the Western tradition. There are a few exceptions and the severity varies from program to program or which department. Of the Catholic colleges quite a few essentially have been infiltrated and taken over by anti-Catholics.

But to get into a leadership position in many universities you have to go along with the Frankfurt School agenda, multiculturalism, and anti-Christian liberalism. It is to the point where many do not even know that they do not understand Western civilization. They think that the multiculturalist and Cultural Marxist point of view is normal. You see that in the way Obama is treated with adulation in the media. They are trying to make the Gramsciam, Fabian Socialist, and Cultural Marxist point of view the normal way of looking at things.

When the Obama administration responded to the scandal at Notre Dame, they posed the issue of Notre Dame's Catholic identity in the language of moral relativism and multiculturalism - just one point of view among many, none having any claim to truth except the liberal left-wing one. Well, the idea that a baby being a human being ( a person) is just one point of view of some quaint cultural tradition is their agenda. This is an in-your-face assault on Western Christian civilization. And Notre Dame (nor any other place claiming to be an institution of learning) should not be pandering to this. This is an Abu Ghraib for Catholics (and for all Christians). Obama is going to put on the dog collars and leashes. Right in front of the statue of Our Lady and Jesus. Does evil get any more banal?
