Among people who think of themselves as conservatives there are few names better known than Ann Coulter's. Through her successful books and frequent media appearances she has built a solid reputation for mercilessly exposing the illogic, inconsistencies and dangerous foolishness characteristic of liberal policies and personalities. Like many of the pundits in what I think of as the "Rupert Murdoch School" of media conservatives, her conservative credentials have more to do with her highly visible assaults against the opposition than with any renown for articulating conservative principles, or using them to develop and justify public policy. However, during the Republican primaries before the 2008 general election, her endorsement of Mitt Romney invited people to look beyond her proficient jabs at those she stands against, in order to consider who she stands for.
Keyes shows he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I’ve read several of her books. She is certainly able to espouse conservative principles.
It may do well for Mr. Keyes’ next article if he actually read her stuff before commenting...
everyone has blindspots. If she still likes Romney, then that would be very very strange. He is not a conservative.
Maybe she saw her first choice, Duncan Hunter, was getting Keyes like support from the GOP and figgered Mitt was better than Mccain or Rudy or Huck.
We need to get rid of rino susan collins in Maine.
I say we get Alan to move there and then in 2014, Keyes beats her in the primary and goes on to a smashing win in the general.
Maybe there doin’ the horizontal bop.
I can’t see her supporting him otherwise.
I think she probably liked him during the 2008 election but his nice comments about Obama and talk of amnesty again made me drop him for good. He did help Michelle Bachmann raise money during the election and helped Chambliss and tedisco. Sad he is too liberal because I think he is a decent person.

If you read carefully, you’ll see that that’s not what he said. He said that that’s not what she’s known for, which is true. She’s known for effectively attacking the Left.
My choices were Hunter first.
When he stepped out, then Thompson.
When he gave it up, then Romney.
I swore for years I’d never vote for McCain, not no way, not no how, but I finally decided to vote for Palin.
I used to like Keys a lot, & still do to some extent, but as I’ve come to talk to some of those in his campaign & who he surrounds himself with, I’ve been turned off.
I expect she wanted Obama less than she wanted Romney... seems like a no-brainer to me.
And, if he were president today,we may be in a economic slump, but not the turmoil and ridiculous gyrations we are seeing. He would be an excellent president, IMO.
You and I define the words "conservative" and "principle" much differently.
Coulter supported Duncan Hunter, raved about him on the talk shows, mentioned Hunter in one of her books, etc..
She probably just thought Romney was the best one out of the remaining candidates.
Alan Keyes needs to shut up.
Why?
Are we in the business of “shutting up” people with whom we disagree?
Alan Keyes is right on a lot of issues.
Even if I don’t always agree with him, he’s intellectually honest.
I’m still and will continue to be for Sarah Palin, the only potential candidate who doesn’t compromise her conservative views for position or to look good in the media. Palin, 2012, can’t come soon enough.
Romney is a Liberal, either openly or in disguise on nearly any conservative principle.
Alan Keyes is just a bit bitter — and he’s a self-promoter to boot. I don’t disagree with his principled positions — but he seems willing to skirt them when it suits him. I recall his moving from Maryland to Chicago to run for Senate against Barack Obama back a few years ago (after criticizing Hillary Clinton for doing the same thing a couple of years before).
I can also say that I don’t agree with Ann Coulter in every case — but to question her Conservative principles is a bit like questioning if Pope Benedict XVI is Catholic. I don’t really favor Romney as a candidate, but Ann has a mind, and as a good Conservative, she can use it. And, as a woman, believe me, she can also change it.
Chill Alan. It’s a long time before the next election. Conservatives need to work together, not tear each other apart.
