But I thought ACORN was a non-partisan group? How else would they have gotten tax dollars?

Oh wait I remember - the current administration is too busy whizzing on the Constitution to concern themselves.

And of course ACORN will be there, if the Tea Parties are effective they wont get their kickback after next election.

Tax protest planned
Andrea Verdin
Staff Writer
Friday, April 10th, 2009

On ‘Tax Day’ April 15, Temecula residents will take part in a mock Boston Tea party as part of statewide protest against the April 1 tax increases, the national stimulus package, and a state ballot measure to extend tax increases.

The Temecula Tea Party and Tax Protest will begin at 11 a.m. at the Temecula Duck Pond, located at the intersection of Rancho California and Ynez Roads.

The Temecula Tea Party was inspired by the historical tea party, which took place in Boston in 1773 when a group of colonials went to Boston Harbor and destroyed tea shipments in protest over British tax policies on the American colonies.

“While the April 15 tax day is nothing to celebrate, we will exercise our First Amendment freedoms by protesting the increase in federal and state taxes, as well as the wasteful “porkulus” spending bills imposed upon American taxpayers,” said Rick Reiss, programs director for the Murrieta-Temecula Republican Assembly (MTRA), one of the tea party’s sponsors.

The MTRA has joined with FreedomWorks to organize this protest as a way to defeat Proposition 1A, the measure that would impose a state spending cap in exchange for extending sales, income and vehicle license taxes for another year or more.

These tax increases are a part of a plan made by state legislators to fill in the $42 billion budget gap, and a special election is scheduled for May 19 to vote on the measures.

MTRA and FreedomWorks both say their objectives are “to unite ‘the Silent Majority’ in an effort to fight liberal spending agendas, while promoting fiscal responsibility and transparency.

The sponsors will have some flags, banners, signs and other props available for protesters, but participants are encouraged to augment that with their own signs and banners.

For more information on the protest, visit www.taxdayteaparty.com/teaparty/california.

Some good history. Check it out!

“A Proclamation by the King for Suppressing Rebellion and Sedition, August 23, 1775”

By the spring of 1775, peaceful protest gave way to armed conflict at Lexington and Concord. Ignoring one last, futile plea for peace in a message known as the Olive Branch Petition, the King proclaimed in this document that the colonies stood in open rebellion to his authority and were subject to severe penalty, as was any British subject who failed to report the knowledge of rebellion or conspiracy. This document literally transformed loyal subjects into traitorous rebels.
