Ellison, Bachmann spar over 'psycho talk' (MN)
StarTribune ^ | 4/17/09 | BOB VON STERNBERG

A rhetorical tiff boiled over this week between Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison.

Bachmann started it last week when she said in a radio interview that the controversial "flying imams" -- six Muslim men removed from a plane at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in a well publicized incident in 2006 -- had come to the Twin Cities to attend Ellison's victory celebration following his initial election to Congress.

Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, replied Thursday that Bachmann was engaged in "psycho talk."

According to the transcript of an interview Bachmann gave to a San Francisco talk radio station on April 9, she said: "The imams, the imams were actually attending, ah, Congressman Keith Ellison's victory celebration, when he won as a member of Congress." She then went on to detail the allegations made at the time about the behavior of the men.

Alerted by nervous passengers, crew members of a Phoenix-bound US Airways plane called airport police and had the men removed. They were questioned for several hours before being released without being charged.

Muslim lie...
The Koran authorizes them to lie to infidels in order to remain safe until they have strength in numbers or power..

If we were using the standards applied to the Japanese Americans during WWII, we would already have rounded up and incarcerated or deported every Muslim in America....

Sure Keith, six terrorists are removed from a plane coming to see you is perfectly acceptable.

Photobucket

Nothing to see here, just some "psycho-talk" from an "evil extremest"

Keith Elisson, by his actions after the flying imam incident has shown quite clearly that he is a terrorist sympathizer. There only two possibilities for what the incident was about: It was either a publicity stunt, or it was a probing mission. His defense of, and advocacy for these enemy combatants and their CAIR puppet masters, tells you all you need to know about him.

I deeply apologize to the people of America that my single votes in '06 and '08 were not enough to overcome the idiocy of my neighbors.

It has been documented that what Michelle said was not true..she is becoming an embarrassment with her talk about Fema internment camps.

From the Star Tribune...it clearly states these guys were attending a conference...jeez, Dems are bad enough we don't have to make stuff up. Nov. 22, 2006: Uproar follows imams' detention The removal of six Muslim clerics from a US Airways flight from the Twin Cities set off a nationwide uproar, and the Department of Homeland Security's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties said it will review the incident. "This was humiliating, the worst moment of my life," Shahin said Tuesday, a day after he and five fellow Muslim imams were escorted off a US Airways jet at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. "To practice your faith and pray is a crime in America?" he said. The incident set off a nationwide uproar, and the Department of Homeland Security's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties said it will review the incident. Bloggers and talk radio buzzed about the need to be vigilant against potential terrorists, while civil rights advocates and Muslim leaders cried foul. The national Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called for a congressional hearing about ethnic and religious profiling at airports. Locally, the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas and the Somali Justice Advocacy Center questioned the detention. Bushra Khan, spokeswoman for CAIR's Arizona chapter, said, "All these men did was pray, and it was misunderstood. The bottom line is that they were Middle Eastern-looking men ... and that scares some people." US Airways said that it will fully investigate the matter and that passenger safety is paramount. The religious leaders were heading home after a three-day North American Imams Federation conference in Bloomington.

If that's directed at me, I never addressed, nor do I care why the imams were in Minneapolis. If Bachmann was wrong, she should get her facts strait. But the fact remains that these men never gave a credible explanation as to why they request seat belt extensions, when none of them were anywhere big enough to need them. The also have not explained spreading out throughout the plane in a 9/11 configuration.

Their actions were indefensible. Any normal person would have been alarmed. The fact that Ellison leaped to their defense instinctively just shows you where he is coming from, and who he considers his constituency.

Bachmann needs to understand how much she is despised by many on the loony left, and stay away from venues controlled by them.

While I agree with everything else you are saying, on this I must politely disagree.

Quite plainly, we are at WAR, it may not be a physical battle, yet, and hopefully never, however, it is still a war.

Our approach should be one of defiance. Go purposely where the LEFT is and confront them and battle them with a "Take No Prisoners" approach on every occasion possible.

No Retreat, No Quarter, only moving forward against our enemy.

The General Patton approach.

I don’t despise Bachman. However, she does herself no credit and the GOP no credit unfortunately to talk about fema concentration camps for young people and from what I can tell she is not right about the flying imams...

Apology accepted, but next time you’ll have to do as your neighbors do - vote early & vote often.

(I know it’s an old post, but I just happened upon it and couldn’t resist.)
