Democrat Scott Murphys lead is now up to 178 votes over Republican Jim Tedisco, after a small number of additional absentee and overseas military ballots were counted in Dutchess and Rensselaer Counties.
More notably, as the count begins to wind down, it seems like the GOP is prepared for a protracted court battle, at least by the sound of this internal memo sent this afternoon by a National Republican Congressional Committee staffer:

Subject: NY-20 Update
Hi there, I wanted to give you an update on NY-20. As of last night, Tedisco was down by only 86 votes (Official BOE count). This represents a .05% differential between the two campaigns. Seven of the ten counties have completed counting their absentee ballots and all ballot counting should be complete by Friday. 6,200 absentee ballots have been counted so far with approximately 570 remaining. Approximately, 1,550 absentee ballots have been challenged by attorneys for either the Tedisco or Murphy campaigns. These ballots are not included in the overall numbers. The election will most likely be decided in the courts.
While the 1,550 or so absentee ballots have been challenged -- and remain to be counted -- the majority of objections appear to be coming from the Tedisco campaign. Even the most pro-Tedisco rulings by the court will still make it difficult for Tedisco to overcome the narrow deficit he's currently facing.
If the remaining ballots don't dramatically break Tedisco's way, it will be interesting to see how he proceeds. Will he challenge the validity of the count and continue to press his case in the courts, or begin preparing for a rematch against Murphy next year?
Another one suddenly swings towards the ‘Rat column during the recount.
From another CQ blog post:
As of 4 p.m. Monday, according to unofficial tallies, only 205 military ballots had been received out of 998 mailed out by elections officials.
Tedisco noted that the Pentagons Federal Voter Assistance Program recommends 45 days for ballots to be returned from the time they are sent, but New York allowed only 30 days for the return of ballots in the special congressional election.
These “overseas” ballots probably are coming frm Saudi Arabia.
So many close elections... Isn’t that odd? So many in recent years — with MILLIONS more voting than in elections of past decades. That defies logic. It’s almost like it was planned that way. Like it was arranged... It’s just TOO “coincidental.” Does anyone else get that impression?
I might add that — it’s even MORE fascinating that ALL these close elections have been won by Democrats SINCE the 2000 Bush/Gore election... WHAT are the ODDS!?!
what are the odds that the NATS would lose 7 straight games a the start of the season?
And so it is with the GOP. Stupid is as stupid does.
(PS I begged the NRC to let me pass out AB apps to people requesting them during my door-to-door work. They scoffed at “such trivia”.)
“what will it take to conduct an election where there is a clear cut winner?”
Get rid of ACORN and other voter fraud, and count the military votes.
What are AB apps?
“I have received an update from a form distributed by the New York elections board indicating that as of April 1, there were 1,005 absentee ballots sent out to military voters.”

Let’s contact the tv and radio media that airs in the 20th district and tell them to do some indepth reporting about the military votes. I contaced a bunch of them, and wrote a letter to the editor, but it will take many of us to be effective.
AB=Absentee Ballots
As I keep saying ad nauseum, the oak tree seed is in charge of our election process, and until we force them out and get bipartisan poll officials, we will lose.
I knew we were in trouble when I tried to volunteer to help out at the polls in California when I lived there, and in Ohio now, and the responses were that no Republicans need apply.
All recounts go to dims because they count until they win, then they stop, and not before.
What really hacks me off is that they aren’t even legally elected. They aren’t the will of the people because they cheat and lie and do all the other things that they accuse us of doing ala Saul Alinsky and George Sorry@$$.
Grrrrr.
“AB apps” are absentee ballot applications.
Useless paperwork unless you are an Acorn-type grassroots creature.
Doesn’t look good. ******* ****.
Tedisco ran a poor race, he shouldn’t be the nominee next year.
They are beginning to get a little bit incautious with the vote manufacturing. Granted, there is risk in creating 10,000 more than needed instead of just barely enough, but they have to do it every so often to make the results look realistic. The MSM may refuse to take notice, but the citizens haven't.
when you are going door-to-door and meet a supporter, you can hand him an application and ask him to mail it to his son who is “away at Florida State”.
The NRC has not discovered this advance technique.
Another advanced technique is to mail an app to every GOP household asking them to give it to someone in the family. You can also mail out voter registration forms to GOP households.
The unregistered among us tend to be split about 50/50 between liberal/conservative. Don’t assume all unregistered people are sympathetic to the DEMS. Surveys have shown that idea to be a fallacy.
I know what you wrote! :)
Thanx for the info. campaignPete R-CT and Young Lady.
I heard Jim Tedisco on NYPost Fred Dicker’s radio show, and Tedisco said that people who live in NYC, and got their STAR property tax rebate for NYC, came to the 20th district to VOTE. Dems keep getting away with this inappropriate nonsense.
He also said the families of the military could go to the courts if their family member’s vote wasn’t counted.
I meant to say: “came to the 20th district to their summer home to VOTE.”
Since when is it legal to be able to vote in two districts.
:D
Maybe I should have wrote “fornicating crap”.
