Al-Qaeda Commander Abu Yahya Al-Libi in New Video: There Is No Difference Between Palestine and Other Jihads – Including Al-Andalus; If Helping the Israelis Is Apostasy, So Is Helping the U.S.

In a 59-minute video produced by Al-Sahab, Al-Qaeda's media wing, and posted on jihadist forums on April 22, 2009, senior Al-Qaeda commander Abu Yahya Al-Libi tries to convince Islamist clerics of Al-Qaeda's positions on fighting against the U.S. and against the regimes in Muslim countries.

Abu Yahya al-Libi, a Libyan citizen, is an Islamic scholar who was captured by authorities in 2002 and imprisoned at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan. Al-Libi escaped in July 2005, and has since appeared in a number of propaganda videos, using his religious training to influence people and legitimize the actions of al-Qa´ida.

Al-Libi is a key motivator in the global jihadi movement and his messages convey a clear threat to U.S. persons or property worldwide. Al-Libi is believed to be in hiding in Afghanistan or Pakistan.

“Algeria: Al-Qaeda video promotes child recruitment”

SNIPPET: “Algiers, 29 April (AKI) - A documentary-style video from Al-Qaeda’s North African branch released on the Internet shows children promoting jihad or holy war and inviting others to join them. The video also contains footage of previous messages by Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Abu Yahya al-Libi.

At the end of the video, three children raise their fists in the air.

The eldest child, who calls himself Abu Dajana Sufiyan says: “I am a mujahid, (a Muslim who is engages in jihad) son of a mujahid, and I tell all Muslims and particularly young Muslims to fight against the Crusaders and their heretic allies.”

Abu Dajana, who presumably is 13 years old is shown in the video with two other very young children, one who calls himself Osama and another who calls himself Muadh Abdel Salam. All three are seen holding rifles.

It is presumed from the video that the other children are sons of other militants that have been operating for years in the ranks of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and who are hiding in the caves in the mountainous areas of Algeria.

This would confirm recent Algerian media reports about the decision of militants to bring their wives to their hiding places in the mountains.”
