California passes bills allowing renters to squat, unions to "card check"

The Los Angeles times is reporting that the California state senate has passed a bevy of bills that will increase the cost of doing business. First, they passed a bill, SB 789, to allow the state equivalent of federal “card check,” allowing farmworkers unions to form without a secret ballot. According to the LA Times, “Instead of holding an election with secret ballots, workers could submit cards, signed by a majority of the workers asking for representation, to state labor authorities.” This is bad policy – and more than that, it encourages bullying tactics from union thugs. How many people are going to refuse to sign a union card if they’re in a union organizer’s home?

This must be part of La Raza’s “Reconquista” scheme. After all the actual Americans emigrate, the illegals will be the only ones left in CA. They will be able to claim “squatters’ rights” on the entire state.

Mexico will then have 32 states, and we will have to paint over one of the stars on the American flag.

“Finally, there’s SB 120, which bars a bank or person who takes a home in foreclosure from cutting off utility service, changing locks or removing a renter’s belongings to terminate the tenancy. This is simply absurd. If a renter refuses to move out, this bill would allow the renter to squat until a court decided to issue an order.”

I’m so glad I no longer own rental property!

Good! Let California experiment with all this leftwing lunacy, so the rest of us can see what we don’t want to do.

In the case of the squatters then the people owning the building or house should not pay the rent for those properties and move out of town..I'll bet the banks will make the squatter leave if they don’t get any rent money from the owners..Why stay you will never make a cent in rent if these free loader get their way..California politician are ruining that beautiful state..

I love and miss San Diego, but man I’m glad I escaped from that godforsaken state.

I can’t believe the land of Reagan has come to this. It’s total madness.

OK fine. As long as the legislators will personally take responsibility for paying the bill.

“I was amazed that virtually anyone can call themselves a personal trainer, regardless of their education or lack thereof,” explained Sen. Ron Calderon (D-Montebello), who penned the bill. What next? Licenses for dog-walkers? If an uneducated person can’t do personal training, what can they do?
Right now, they can become politicians. And many DO, just look at Congress (The House is full of illiterates and certified MORONS).

And speaking of 'education or lack thereof', I think all politicians should be licensed. And the License TEST should focus on the U.S. Constitution and U.S. History / War of Independence. Anything below an 80 and you go back to your old job -- being a used car salesman, drug dealer, or pimp.

No B.A., no B.S., no Law degree required - just pass the test with an 80 and you get your 'Politicians License' (License to practice politics). And the higher the office the tougher the test questions. Just like a Plumber :-)

If I were a big business I would create my OWN shell union and create a seperate collective bargaining agreement where all employees had to be members and abide by the collective bargaining agreement with the union I controlled.

(it works in the maritime industry...)

One wonders how many times California can swirl in the toilet before actually disappearing down the drain. Alice would surely be at home there.

I heard Ray Appleton on KMJ Radio this morning say that the UFW was pressuring the Assembly to pass this bill. The Assemblyman Mendoza threatened that the west side of the Central Valley would get no water without Card Check. Ray’s going to talk about it at noon. You can listen online.

This state is owned by the bloodthirsty unions. They won’t quit until they own everything lock stock and barrel.

If the bank that owns the house doesn’t pay for the utilities, won’t they get shut off anyway? Does this force the bank to pay for water and electric to a vacant home?

bars a bank or person who takes a home in foreclosure from cutting off utility service, changing locks or removing a renter’s belongings to terminate the tenancy.

This is regular landlord/tenant law. To say that a bank or person who takes a home in foreclosure cannot "get rid of a squatter" is not true, they can go through the eviction process.

I have a feeling that this has been stipulated because there have been owners that default on their mortgage which puts the home in foreclosure. However they do not tell their current tenant in the rental and continue to collect rent for as long as possible.

What are they doing in a union organisers house if they aren't interested in joining the union? were they kidnapped off the street and dragged there? straw man argument
