A new swine influenza virus is causing outbreaks in humans in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, and the virus has possibly spread to other countries. This outbreak has alarmed public health officials because of its epidemiological characteristics, which indicate that the virus may be able to cause a pandemic. Efforts to prepare for pandemic influenza have been underway following the emergence of a dangerous strain of avian influenza in 2004.[1] The outbreak is testing these preparations, including new rules of international lawthe International Health Regulations 2005 (IHR 2005) adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO).[2] This Insight provides information on the outbreak and discusses the IHR 2005s role in the responses to it.

This has to be one of the dumbest lines of nonsense ever put out by governments and international NGOs in history, and that's saying something.
So, if one case of this flu has appeared in a nation, there is no point in attempting containment? That's not what local governments, and many foreign gov'ts, are doing with school closings and event cancellations.
