I know our military swear the oath to defend the Constitution and I know for a fact that current Marine training includes classes on what that means and also training about legal and illegal orders.

I assume Panneta has sworn the same oath at some time and one must pray that he has some semblance of honor. His resignation is much to be hoped for.

..assuming anything about people with ultimate power is useless, Leon was not "selected" because of his conscious, nor his dedication to the country.....he is like all others selected for his loyalty to Obambi and the socialist agenda....in his case, I think not for his ability, more for his name

Well the Constitution requires all officers of the United States, and of the several states, to swear such an oath. All federal "officers", from the Vice President on down, be they military or civilian, swear the same oath. The oath of enlistment is slightly different, since it includes swearing to obey orders, while the officer's oath, both sorts, does not.

The Presiden't oath of office is somewhat different yet, and is the only one whose exact wording is specified in the Constituion. None of the times O swore it before Chief Justice Roberts did he get it right.
