Study: Cat Parasite Affects Human Culture (OMG, this could explain liberalism!)

A parasitic microbe commonly found in cats might have helped shape entire human cultures by manipulating the personalities of infected individuals, according to a new study.

Infection by a Toxoplasma gondii could make some individuals more prone to some forms of neuroticism and could lead to differences among cultures if enough people are infected, says Kevin Lafferty, a U.S. Geological Survey scientist at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

In a survey of different countries, Lafferty found that people living in those with higher rates of T. gondii infection scored higher on average for neuroticism, defined as an emotional or mental disorder characterized by high levels of anxiety, insecurity or depression.

Are you saying this cat microbe turns real he-men into pussies?

I was thinking it might be the cat flea, which carries the plague.

Well, there you have it, and it is well known that liberalism is a neurotic disorder for many............

And the culture of San Fransicko could not be more different than the rest of the country.............

Is there a test that can be done for this? My ex likes cats and I would like to get my kids tested.

So this is a part of the “Hush Rush” strategy now?

Wouldn’t it be funny if we cured a mental illness and Democrats consequently lost 50% of their voter base?

Isn't this the same parasite that causes mice to be unafraid of cats? Diabolical!

That sturdy Deutsche chick, splashing down in that moat and swimming over to the Polar Bear, which attacked her -surprise!- springs to mind.

Come to think of it, isn't failing to recognize a genuine predator part and parcel of being leftist?

Yes, I’m sure there is. Finding someone to do it might be a problem.

Isn't this the same parasite...

I'd never heard of it before reading this article. Diabolical is right! What I want to know is whether or not the brain damage is permanent.

"mass personality modification could result in cultural change,"

False hope, too.

Interesting, but I know a lot of Conservatives who have cats, and most of the nutbags with whom I'm acquainted, have dogs.

Predisposition to Liberalism is more likely a genetic defect, like Down's Syndrome.

"After all, they add to our cultural diversity,"

So do homicidal maniacs, but our cultural diversity would be better off without murderers and liberals.

This is bull crap. I am a life-long Conservative and Republican who has owned hundreds of cats (YES! You read that correctly) and I am not neurotic.

OK, so I’m terribly concerned about Obama declaring himself President for Life, but I think that’s excusable under present circumstances, don’t you?

Loved the pun!

Look at the ancient Egyptians. Those were some bada** dudes. Fell in love with cats and the next thing you know a they roll over when a few insane muslims with swords show up.

You appear to suffer from the delusion that you can own a cat. Rest assured, the cats see it differently.

That was when they stopped worshipping cats.

Yeah this is stupid. I have two cats and I’m conservative. I have had dogs but don’t care for them quite as much as I’d rather not be responsible for another creatures pooping schedule. ;) Dogs require a yard in my opinion.

Predisposition to liberalism is a given in our subverted marxist influenced pop culture dominated society and has nothing to do with pets.

As Savage always says “diversity is perversity”.

FWIW, the Eguptians had been ruled by foreigners for nearly a thousand years by the time Muslims arrived.

Details, details. First they fell in love with cats. Then they rolled over. QED. ;-)
