McALLEN, Texas (AP) — Texas health officials have confirmed the first death of a United States resident with swine flu.

Few details have been released, but officials say the flu victim was a woman who lived in Cameron County, along the U.S.-Mexico border, and had other, chronic health problems.

The Texas Department of State Health Services said Tuesday that she died earlier this week.

1 down and 37,999 to go to reach the normal death toll for flu related diseases in any given year. Get back to me when the number climbs over 100.

Now, the CDC is saying that schools shouldn’t close over the flu.

I know there is a kid in my daughters’ class that is sick. A bunch of other people are sick.

I talked to my daughter’s cardilogist and our asthma doctor, and they all said it should be okay if my daughters do catch it. I hope they are correct.

The Statesman article had this:

A Cameron County woman has died of swine flu, the first death of a U.S. resident, the Department of State Health Services has just reported.

From the NY Times:

The health of the woman, a schoolteacher who lived in Harlingen, near the border with Mexico, was worsened by the H1N1 flu virus, said Leonel Lopez, the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services epidemiologist. Ms. Lopez said that the woman had recently given birth, and added that the baby was in good health.

Illegal immigration Ping!

25 Americans die from illegal alien crime a day, making an annual death toll of 4,745 deaths per year. This doesn't include deaths from drugs, the 9/11 attacks, or disease. It wouldn't matter if Osama Bin Ladin with 100 nukes and the Bubonic Plague were on the Mexican Border, the open borders Federal Government will still keep the border open. More will have to die for the CEOs of Tyson Foods, Cargill, Swiftco, and other crooked companies.

Re your Illegal immigration Ping:

“The health of the woman, a schoolteacher who lived in Harlingen, near the border with Mexico, was worsened by the H1N1 flu virus”

I don’t think a Texas schoolteacher could be an illegal alien. Please read before you ping.
