Stopping truth at the border: banning Michael Savage from Britain

When I awoke Tuesday morning, I ambled over to the computer, as is my wont, and made my usual cyber rounds. I logged on to the Drudge Report and, lo and behold, saw the following headline, "RADIO HOST MICHAEL SAVAGE BANNED FROM UK FOR 'EXTREME VIEWS'...." "Wow," I thought, "Britain strikes again."

The prohibition is the handiwork of England's Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, who included Savage on a list of 16 unwelcome individuals whom she wanted to "name and shame." According to Beverley Rouse writing in The Independent, Smith says this is "so others could better understand what sort of behaviour Britain was not prepared to tolerate."

Yeah, such as telling the Truth, I suppose.

Believe it or not, I can't really say I'm surprised at Smith's actions. I keep my nose to the news, and nary a week goes by that I don't read about a couple more examples of political correctness on steroids coming out of formerly Great Britain.

What’s Fred Phelps doing on that list? He’s a complete and utter joke, and far from dangerous. There are plenty of murderers, rapists, abusers and other criminals in this country who are still allowed to enter Formerly Great Britain, simply because they aren’t famous for making controversial statements.

Fred Phelps is a joke. He is quite emphatic about his stand against homosexuals. However, since Great Britain is being overrun homosexuals and, especially by Islamic immigrants who practice homosexuality, there is a certain cultural tinderbox that I am sure Phelps would ignite. I would get the popcorn fired up if Phelps were able to get into Britain.

However, the more I think about the moral abyss that Britain has sunk, the more my appetite for popcorn has soured. If we knew what all goes on over there, we would be sicker than any Swine Flu could make us.

This is of a piece with the DHS report, the Fusion Centers, and the Administration’s support for domestic spying — not to mention the recent decision that they can put a GPS on anyone’s car at any time for any reason or no reason and without telling anyone. It’s part of the Adolf Soros-led campaign to suppress free speech throughout the world.
