There is no forgiveness until the sin is no longer practiced. "Forgiveness" while the sin is occurring with no intention of the sinner to cease is simply acquiescence in the sin.
Wondering the same thing.
I missed the part in the article where he was threatened and assaulted.
Grove City does not have co-ed dorms. You can not close your dorm room door with a person of the opposite sex in it.
BTW. He was doing gay porn with Christian values.
It is significant that the school’s attitude caused the fellow to “re-evaluate” his beliefs rather than to re-evaluate his actions and attitudes. That says that his immediate desires of the flesh determin what he will choose to believe, that there is no Truth, only Rationalization.
Forgiveness does not rent space from Christianity.
Forgiveness does not even occur while the bad behaviour is in progress and unrepented.
Yup...and if the person in sin doesn’t repent the church and believers are to stop having fellowship with him...witness the guy in the Corinthian church that was having sex with his stepmother, Paul demanded that they throw him out out of the church to bring him to repentance.
What is with these soupy Christians who see nothing wrong with immorality and think we should throw open our arms to all sorts of perverse, anti-God behavior?
Ed
probably offered a chair with a fast track to tenure.
Good point.
In other words he wants everyone to pretend that it never happened.
And he must also learn that there are consequences to actions. Forgive the sin, but do not forgo justice.
If a homosexual is working out in the gym, I would assume that he is in the showers and all that sort of thing.
It would only be natural for other guy students of that age to be totally grossed out and not in a forgiving mood. He is lucky if he is not harmed.
‘Forgiveness is a key tenant of Christianity; as I recall there was a good thief and a bad thief crucified along with Jesus, and there are other teachings about sexual misconduct and who should cast the first stone.”
Forgiveness does not mean forgetting. He lied to them. He damaged their school’s image. Let him go make his movies if he wants. Doesn’t need a degree for that. He’ll be dead of aids long before his degree would help anyway.
FABULOUS!!!
“Point here is that Christians are quick to howl and point to the moral high ground but here you have group threatening and assaulting someone, not very christian like if you ask me.”
Christians are people too. We sometimes get angry and don’t hold to the values as we should. Christians aren’t perfect but they are forgiven.
Sin makes God angry too.
Hmm, this doesn’t pass the smell test. It looks like this guy is after $$$ - one way or another.
has received over 200 threatening emails
Re-evaluating whether you want to be associated with the kind of people who would threaten you over this?
Forgiveness is not the same as being absolved from consequences.
We must remember that the “rules” God gave us are there to protect us. They are there to be sure we get the best value of our time here on earth.
Fire is awesome. It can help us to cook food, keep us warm, or just give as a reason to gather to sing and roast marshmallows. But if fire is not contained, it becomes destructive and dangerous, just like sex. Within Marriage, it is awesome and beautiful thing. Outside marriage, sex causes great harm. Children without two loving parents and a stable home that teaches them security and structure, disease, etc....
You can forgive and should forgive those who sin and seek true redemption. This does not mean they should not feel the weight of their actions— it is the best teacher of all to experience the pain of your decisions. It is the loving and right thing.
There are times for mercy, but this writer wouldn’t understand the difference anyway...
This is one of Saul Alinsky’s rules— you try and make them stand up to their own standards... this is why the left has none, you can’t make them live up to any...they want to corner the market on the use of the word hypocrite....I’d rather be mad at myself for being a hypocrite a few times in my life than to live a life with no standards or no understanding of right and wrong at all..
