Limbaugh More Loyal to GOP Than Powell, Says Cheney

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Sunday took a shot at former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell by accusing him of turning his back on Republicans, adding that conservative broadcaster Rush Limbaugh is a more loyal party member than the retired Army general.

"If I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I'd go with Rush Limbaugh," said Mr. Cheney on CBS' "Face the Nation."

Mr. Powell recently said that Republicans need to move to the center politically and said that Mr. Limbaugh's conservative rhetoric is polarizing and hurts the party's image. The radio talk-show host fired back by accusing Mr. Powell of being "just another liberal" and said he should become a Democrat.

Mr. Cheney agreed that, in light of Mr. Powell's endorsement of Democrat Barack Obama's presidential bid last year, that he no longer can be considered a Republican.

"I assumed that that is some indication of his loyalty and his interest," Mr. Cheney said, adding that Mr. Powell's recent comments had convinced him that "Colin had already left the party."

"I didn't know he was still a Republican," he said.

Too bad Cheney didn't run for President. Win or lose it would've felt more honest.

Limbaugh is “loyal” to his inherent Conservative principles, the GOP has no principles...

What? Colin was just being a good Republican by voting for "The First Black" DEMOCRAT President?

“the GOP has no principles...”
++++++++++++++

Yes, the current GOP leadership seems very scarce on values and principles. Powell is a turncoat of the worst sort - endorsing dear leader - what a joke. I love how people like that and the RINOs think they can do and say ‘anything’ and you know slap mud in our faces and we’ll just smile and think they’re the greatest and just pull the little lever for all Rs. Sorry, we’re not morons. We do have a brain in our heads and a heart that still beats for America!

Exactly.

And to those who insist that Fox News is conservative, Newscorp execs endorsed John Kerry in 2004 and Murdoch gave money to Hillary's Senate campaign.

Hard to claim conservative Republican credentials.

Why didn’t Colin Powell endorse Alan Keyes? I voted for Keyes in the Texas GOP primary (I certainly wasn’t going to vote for McCain or Huckabee in the primary).

..for what good our primary votes counted for anything.

The RNC must change our primary process so that NE liberals don't pick our candidate!

Recall too that 2 states (Michigan and Florida) did not effectively have a DNC primary contest for President and they encouraged their voters to cross over and vote in the GOP primary.

Also, Democrat staffers (from Howard Dean's campaign) got onboard Democrats for McCain back in 2006.

We did not get to pick our candidate in 2008.

The primary system needs to be overhauled (regarding crossover voters and the weighting of the importance of certain regions of the country over others). Flyover country is the GOP base. The GOP base should be choosing the candidate(s).

And there should be more conservative moderators on at least SOME of the Democrat and Republican primaries. And anyone who is already contracted to write a book about one of the two candidate with a street date on inauguration day should NOT be seated as a moderator because of a conflict of interest.

Oh, come on--you're handing this one to liberal readers who think they're clever.

You know that is probably the most damning indicator for the GOP. When a man who is labeled as an “entertainer” holds more tightly to his conservative principles than those who are elected but it isn’t the first time. It is also telling that the greatest GOP President since Lincoln was Ronald Reagan, once a Democrat and an actor. The GOP has such potential but I think it was epitomized in John McCain. He had a choice to lead and he cowered. He had a message of strength, faith, and courage he could have taken to the people if only he had had the faith in his own principles to stand up to President Bush.
We will never win if when in a crises we behave like Democrats and socialists.

Huh? Juan McQueeg "stood up to President Bush" at the wrong times (Gang of 14, close Gitmo, no "torture" etc) and also stood with him at the wrong times (Shamnesty, TARP 1, etc) all the while claiming to be a Reagan Conservative.

McQueeg was wrong more often than he was right, and aside from picking Sarah Palin as his running mate, was a complete disaster candidate.

"The RNC must change our primary process so that NE liberals don't pick our candidate!"

Bingo!

That one change would make a monumental difference. I have been complaining about that since 2000 when the libs almost gave it to McCain. They finally succeeded in 2008.

“The primary system needs to be overhauled (regarding crossover voters and the weighting of the importance of certain regions of the country over others). Flyover country is the GOP base. The GOP base should be choosing the candidate(s).”

The Beagle8U primary Proposal....

Only registered Republicans will be allowed to vote in primaries. You must be registered no less than 6 months in advance to vote. Any state with an open primary will be counted as nothing more than a straw poll, meaning not at all!

Only true primaries will count for choosing the nominee.
A state caucus shall be counted as nothing more than a straw poll, meaning, not at all!

The primary dates for voting shall be set by the results of the previous POTUS November election. The first state to have a Republican primary will be the one with the highest % of Republican POTUS votes, and so on down the line. Dates could be grouped such as “the top 5” and so on.

Liberal puke states will be the last to vote. No longer will they be given much weight in choosing their opponent for POTUS.

Problem solved!
