Argh.
As a Combat Engineer myself, I hang my head in shame.
Third tour
God Bless the people who have pulled their share of the defense burden 3 times over
Sad indeed...no need for you to hang your hang.
I have a feeling this is going to be some kind of hate crime...the killer obviously snapped and targeted the clinic as a source of his problems. I find it interesting that the clinic had multiple patients there at the same time. Leads me to believe that it was a walk-in clinic for anyone who feels they need help. Type of place that makes a great out when there is work to be done. Ill even bet the patients did not have to go through their chain of command before going to the clinic. Can you imagine if we had these clinics in England in May 1944...they would have been full.
He’s with the 54th, it does not mean hes a sapper. He could be support.
Agreed...I was with the 20th Engineer Brigade during Operation Desert Storm. I felt the same way when I read he was an Engineer.
It’s always unfortunate to read about fragging incidents but they do happen. I just hope the Left doesn’t try and prop this up as some sort of indictment against all of our soldiers.
“As a Combat Engineer myself, I hang my head in shame.”
No need. I was USAF, but I’ve worked with Combat Engineers for a few months in Afghanistan. They busted their butts and did a great job. My sympathy and prayers for the families.
No need for you to do that. We respect you as much as we always have.
This was an anomaly...a very tragic anomaly.
Someone on here yesterday was spouting off about how much stress the troops are under and subtly blaming the US and the war.
That's not true...the majority of the combat troops are enthusiastic about what they do.
As I've been seeing in the news, ther seems to be an uptick in these sorts of incidents back home lately. Perhaps some Americans in Iraq are vulnerable to this as well.
“As a Combat Engineer myself, I hang my head in shame.”
You shouldn’t. Combat engineers, particularly in Iraq have been and are subjected to a lot of hostile fire. This Sgt was on his third tour, and while not in any way defending him, we have no way of knowing what his breaking point was, or if he even understood what he was doing.
Unwarranted, my friend.
The man cracked, it happens.
I'll echo what all others have already stated: it's a tragedy.
So tragic...my prayers go out to all affected.
