"Right now, we're digging through a pile of tax returns and trying to understand this."

It's simple economics you dumb asses! Eventually those that pay the most will go somewhere else where they won't!

HOW EFFING HARD IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND????????

This is why Obama’s belief in soaking the rich and “spreading the wealth around” is a joke. In socialism, everyone can be poor together, just ask any Russian, Eastern European or Chinese.

“I am very conflicted about Maryland.”

....I was too....my family has been there since 1645...but eventually my dismay outweighed my loyalty...the final straw was when parts of Howard Co got redistricted and I lost Roscoe Bartlett(R) as my congressman....instead we got Elijah Cummings a black Democrat from Baltimore....and that’s when I knew that Maryland would only get worse....the political alliance of blacks and white liberals will take the state down.

I have a bumper sticker on my care that reads "I am John Galt".

I am getting out of the People's Republic of NJ as fast as I can.

Presently, I live in Maryland. I am a Texas native by birth, and soon we will be moving to West Virginia.

The people here who you identify as “liberals” are really life-long socialists who got elected by silly liberals in Montgomery County, Baltimore and a couple of other places.

Int truth, Maryland is a beautiful state which is currently losing hundreds of people a day. Recently, in order to shake a few more bucks out of the populace, speed cameras were put up. No points if you get caught you see, just a fine. Leftists have to get even more creative to find ways of taking the money from the people that earned it and give it to those that did not. Most of the cameras in my country are put up in 30MPH zones and in most, you can see the 40 MPH sign from the camera position. What's next?

Maryland for the most part welcomes illegals, has left-leaning judges, and generally does not produce much except repressive laws.

We are leaving, and like many who have already left, we are more than happy to get the Hell out. Free State my a$$.

"The revenue figures are ugly," Franchot said in an interview. "Right now, we're digging through a pile of tax returns and trying to understand this."

Hey, I've got a good idea, Franchot. Raise the rates to bring the receipts back into balance. That will surely fix the problem! *smirk*

These people are clueless. How do they manage to figure out where the keys to the ignition of their Subarus fit?

Not South Alaska. Feeling about Californians are not exactly positive hereabouts.

Maybe China will purchase what’s left...they have already picked up quite a bit as it is.

I love this. They punish the rich for being rich, then the rich say the hell with this and leave. DUH. Hey taxing authorities, quit hammering the “rich”, leave them alone and they won’t leave. Guess they can’t figure out that most of the rich got that way be being smart and can afford to relocate. Then the net revunue drops and they have to tax those who cannot afford to leave. Net result, your cash cow leaves and you end up taxing the poor. Liberalism is not a mental condition, it is a condition of someone being educated WAY beyond of their intellegence.

Corporate executives have seen their salaries slashed.

Ha! Wait until your omnipotent leader. Barack Obama, determines that all corporate executive salaries should be no more than the average plumber....then what are you going to do?

Ye Olde Bar Joke Lesson on Wealth:

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.”

Drinks for the ten now cost just $80
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay! And so…

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

“I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, “but he got $10!”

“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!”

“That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!” The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

I will have the chance to see one of my sons (and, God willing, some of my grandchildren) living on the same patch of ground and in the same house that the family will have owned for five generations...

Private property when so many are unable to appreciate home ownership?

Do you think this will still be possible for your children?
Have you considered what the inheritance tax might be in the future? I’m not sure I’d count on it at this point. I think I’d have a plan B in the wings.

Thanks for the ping. Obviously, the Peoples Republic of Maryland hasn’t learned that “progressive” taxation reduces tax revenues. They haven’t gotten down to me yet, but I’m sure they will.
