GOP recruiters tilt toward center in 2010 races Outreach to more moderate candidates angering many in conservative base
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, a moderate Republican, has found support for his Senate race from key Republicans even though another well-established candidate has stronger conservative credentials.
WASHINGTON - Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh contend the Republican Party needs less moderation and more conservative backbone to win back voters who have been abandoning it in droves.
Leaders of the party's 2010 election efforts are showing they don't think ideological purity is the answer.
In the latest example, key Republican senators jumped this week behind the Senate candidacy of centrist GOP Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida, picking sides a year before the party primary even though another well-established candidate, former state House Speaker Marco Rubio, has stronger conservative credentials.

If the GOP does this, I’m voting Rat. If I have to have communism, I’m at least going to have the name brand, quality variety of it rather than the cheap assed knockoff. I had hoped the last two electoral drubbings the GOP got would’ve taught it a lesson. It’s beginning to appear a third class will be needed.

The sad thing is, this "rush to the middle" stands a healthy chance of derailing a cyclical Republican revival in 2010 all together.
Of course, that's what our enemies want. How is it that our enemies came to be in control of our party?

The Republican Party is trying to give the SDs (Social Democrats) a 67 vote Senate so that they can scuttle the entire Constitution with the sheaf of UN treaties they have all lined up and waiting for ratification without comment, so that we will never know what hit us until “implementation” begins and we find that even a barely conservative Court can’t help us.

Arguably, the time is right for a strong Libertarian or Independent candidate/party to surface.

They may be referring to Mitch Mcconnell and John Cornyn who have already came out for Crist. Charlie will not win the primary, and between the head of the RPOF Jim Greer and Charlie screwing over the Conservatives, especially the women in Florida they are getting the hell out of Tallahassee asap.

The reception for Crist couldn't be more different from the treatment given conservative Republican Pat Toomey in next year's Pennsylvania Senate race. This tells me that not only does the national GOP not like conservatives, there is a coordinated strategy afoot on their part to purge all conservatives from winning election as Republicans.
...whereas conservatives sometimes would rather be 100 percent pure and get nothing done,"...
Of course, the left can be 100% "pure" and get 100% of their agenda enacted. But this is supposedly impossible for conservatives.
When this country completes its journey down the communist rathole, any accurate histories written will portray RINOs as what they are: aiders and abetters of communist takeover.

Ditto on the Amen.
Voting 3rd party is what put Obama in office. Republicans need to stick with the party, not leave it. Just tell these wannabe phonies to go back to the Democrats.
