The Obama administration will issue new national requirements for the emissions and mileage of cars and light trucks in an effort to................

..............increase costs to the buyer, kill more Americans, and ignore consumer preferences.

Under the new standard, the national fleet mileage rule for cars would be roughly 42 miles a gallon in 2016. Light trucks would have to meet a fleet average of slightly more than 26.2 miles a gallon by 2016.

I don't understand. Why not make them get, like a million miles a gallon? Wouldn't that be cleaner?

NOBODY is paying attention to seperation of powers.

This is Obama issuing and outright imperial edict.

No law,

No legislative debate,

No deliberation of committee of ELECTED representatives,

just a rule from some unelected officials and stamped by the great seal of Dear Leader.

Wasn’t this one of Jimmy Carter’s brilliant moves that failed miserably?

Yes, it gave us evil SUVs that are wreaking death and mayhem on our city streets.

Notice the standards will include "light trucks," an apparent improvement over the 70's CAFE standards.

So people wanting something big and functional will have to go to larger truck chassis, making even larger SUVs.

The law of unintended consequences is one lefties will never understand.

How does Obama think it’s possible to get us out of the hole we’re in by making the hole bigger, wider and deeper?

It’s the big bad evil businesses that kept their butts alive while the government wants to do away with you.

Uh... back to the headline...

Is Obama “offering” this or “mandating” it?

Obama “dictates”, like the other National Socialist in Nazi Germany. The Demo-Socialists and RINOS have learned absolutely nothing. The Kremlin isn’t smart enough to run the economy. Meanwhile our Constitution and our freedom are being destroyed.

I can't help thinking that a three cylinder mini-car is just the thing to reduce the use of fuel and emissions. After all, a mini-car will get 50 MPG and will be really fast going down hill.

If our present government mindset had existed in the early 1800s, horses, cattle, oxen, mules, donkeys, and any other animal I didn’t include, would have been declared not environmentally unfriendly, and we would all live east of the Mississippi. We would also be limited to travel in one day, as far as we could walk, providing we could pucker adequately enough to stop emissions. Otherwise we would have had to stay home with windows closed.

I know that, but I am surprised how many people don’t get it, and they hate “big business” without really even knowing what they hate. When you think about it tho, most of them have seen their entire lives the media portray corporations and executives in a bad light. They are generally the bad guys. The good guys are lawyers and journalists.

I am dreading it. I show dogs (of course the liberal AR folks are trying to do away with that anyway) and its’ hard enough to find an affordable dog mobile as it is. *sigh*. Life just gets better and better!

So HE decrees, so it shall be. HIS wisdom, charm, charisma, impecable character, diversivity (one who embodies multiple racial preferences), business acumen, foresight, benign power, kindness, humility, and any other possible good characteristic will move mountains, change climates, transform industry, endow prosperity, alter physical laws, unite all, melt the hearts of our foes, heal our illnesses, reform our weaknesses, and accomplish anything that HE desires. This decree issued in the year 0 of our MESSIAH.

Nothing like taking the auto manufacturers and giving them to the unions, then setting unreasonable expectations for fuel consumption in a short time. Kind of like taking the arms of the public, tying them behind the back, then tying them to a bumper of a moving car. Tough position to be in but now we can definitely blame the unions for failure since they will own Chrysler and GM.

Obama will announce as early as Tuesday that he will combine California's tough new auto-emissions rules with the existing corporate average fuel economy standard to create a single new national standard... environmental advocates and industry officials briefed on the program said that the president would grant California's longstanding request that its own tailpipe emissions standards be imposed nationally... But Mr. Obama is planning to go further, putting in place new mileage requirements to be administered by the Department of Transportation that would match the stringency of the California program... national fleet mileage rule for cars would be roughly 42 miles a gallon in 2016. Light trucks would have to meet a fleet average of slightly more than 26.2 miles a gallon by 2016.
BTW, you'll be walking. Your liberal masters (including everyone in the entertainment industry) will still be driving gas guzzlers and chaffeured limos.
