It depends. The CAFE standards regulate fleets, that is, all of a manufacturers’ products, not individual vehicles. You might still be able to buy large, safe, vehicles made in this country, but the price will be inflated because you will be subsidizing the production of the company’s eco-deathtraps that people don’t want to buy. People can go to say, Europe, and buy a new Volkswagen or Mercedes, and import it into the U.S.
Isn’t importing a car expensive? I mean aren’t there fees and associated expenses with buying and importing a car that is not in compliance with gooberment rules?
