WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday she won't talk any more about her charge that the CIA lied in 2002 about using waterboarding on terrorism suspects.
"I have made the statement that I'm going to make on this," she told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference. "I don't have anything more to say about it. I stand by my comment."
But Republicans aren't letting this one slide.
Ken Spain, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, issued a statement after the news conference calling Pelosi a political liability to the Democratic party.

Lets see...she has accused the CIA of lying to the congress. Seems like this needs to be investigated. Come on Nancy, what are you afraid of...the truth?
I was watching for that, what she’d say. After all her sound and fury, and after she was so soundly rebutted by her own party members, she has nothing to say, doesn’t apologize, and won’t talk about it.
I say she’s a coward. Scared out of her wits that anything she says, she’ll screw up again, worse, and permanently.
But, I don’t think she’ll be able to help it. She’s going to talk, she won’t be able to stop herself.

On the Obama administration’s refusal so far to release the “effectiveness memos:”Well, this is a really important challenge to the president.And that, I think, was the heart of the Cheney speech. He spoke almost entirely about interrogations because he has been excoriated about that, and the people who supported him in the administration are having their reputation, their livelihoods, even their freedom threatened as a result of those actions. So he feels he is obligated to rise in defense.
And I thought his speech was strong, decisive, unapologetic, and convincing.
On the issue here, he is saying, look, the administration is making a big deal of its transparency. "If I don't release information, I'll tell you why." So tell us why you're going to release the memos that you know are going to embarrass the Bush administration, and describe unpleasant interrogations.
Why do you not release memos which might show how these interrogations helped save American lives?
And we know from Obama's own director of national intelligence, he has said in writing that these interrogations yielded information of high importance about Al Qaeda. So let's see them.
And I think Republicans ought to focus on this and not on Pelosi resigning. I want to keep her in office twisting slowly in the wind. But this is an issue that Republicans ought to rally on. Release the memos.

I still say that the Republican Party should say “The CIA should be brought to court for lying to Pelosi and the Congress.” This would force the truth to come out and Pelosi couldn’t stop it. Has anybody noticed that the media will normally say that the “people” have a right to know but never pushed this fact with Pelosi?
Pelosi lied, Americans died. What more is there to say?
I wish they would get this right. She's not political liability to the democrat party. As third in line she's a National Security liability to the country.
