Ron Paul: Pelosi Commission Vote a ‘Partisan Stunt’
Wash Examiner ^ | 5/22/09 | Dave Wiggles

Yesterday’s Republican attempt to — well, technically to resolve to investigate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), but more realistically to keep the “CIA scandal” going a few more days — drew “nay” votes from Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.). Paul’s spokeswoman Rachel Mills talked to the congressman and explained why he voted no.

“He didn’t want to cast a contentious political vote,” said Mills, “because he thinks that torture is the real issue here. He sees what’s going on as a partisan stunt.”

Pelosi Commission Vote a ‘Partisan Stunt’

He's actually correct, but it was a much cheaper stunt than Pelosi's $3.6T budget, which was also a partisan stunt. Let's just hope it was a stunt that will work.

No, Ron Paul is a man of principle as is Jones. A lot of folks who are in the “gotcha” politics don’t understand that.

Sure he is.

And I saw pink flying unicorns ride a rainbow to the cotton candy castle yesterday, too.

Pelosi flat out lies and impugnes the integrity of the CIA and this is “gotcha” politics?

Ru Paul proves once again he is a loony tune.

Sounds like Ron Paul might also be a RINO, albeit a different sort than McCain, Crist, et al.

"Gotcha" politics, eh?!

Even Susan Estrich! believes this should be investigated.

But there's nothing to agree or disagree about when it comes to intelligence officials misleading Congress. Pelosi didn't say she might've misunderstood. She isn't saying things have changed. As I understand it, she is claiming that intelligence officials lied to her. That needs to be investigated. If Pelosi was misled, those responsible should step aside. If she wasn't -- if she is pointing at others to avoid taking responsibility for herself -- then she will face loud calls to do so herself.

Here's John Boehner:

"To have this charge out there and not have it resolved I think is damaging to our intelligence efforts, and certainly will have a chilling effect on our intelligence professionals around the world," House Republican leader John Boehner said.

"I think that she ought to either present the evidence or apologize, one or the other," Boehner (R-Ohio) said on CNN's "State of the Union."

This ain't "gotcha" politics by any stretch of a sane imagination.

Ron Paul will slam the Republicans every chance he gets, but when is the last time he said anything bad about a Democrat?

“because he thinks that torture is the real issue here.”

So that Pelosi lied about not being in the loop on what has been improperly called “torture” is not an issue.

So does he agree that it IS torture? Or does he want to see if it is torture?

And should the legal counsel that said it was not torture be prosecuted? What about figures like Nancy Pelosi who approved its use? And what of lies to Congress by Nancy Pelosi that she was out of the loop or that the CIA lied to her?

Of course he’s a RINO. He’s a Libertarian who realizes that he is unlikely to get elected if he went the third party route.

Imagine you are a congressman and the intelligence service has lied to you. If Pelosi is telling the truth then you’d think she’d be HOWLING to get to the bottom of this and would be raging with anger as well as worried about the security of this country. We can’t just have the CIA lying to congress. But if she lied, she would be acting just as she is acting.
