Beavis and Butt-head creator Mike Judge oversaw one of the most conservative-friendly shows on TV for more than a decade Foxs King of the Hill. Judge mocked the main characters penchant for guns, drinking beer, and other flyover state stereotypes, but never in a mean-spirited way. And, at the end of each episode, the resolution showed respect for family patriarch Hank Hill and his point of view.
So now Judge is veering in the other direction by poking fun at a do-gooder clan named what else? the Goodes.
The Goode Family, a new animated series debuting at tonight on ABC, lets Judge tweak the polar opposites of the Hills. The Goodes care so very, very much about everything. The environment. Recycling. Veganism. Al Gore.
They drive a hybrid car, own a vegan dog named Che, and approve of bumper stickers which say, Support our troops and their opponents.
Naturally, that collective caring opens the door to plenty of comedic possibilities...

I never understood how King of the Hill lasted so long, most of his jokes were only funny to Texans.
Like LuAnn Platter, that's not funny unless you've been to Luby's more than once.

Wow. Looks worth checking out...or at least recording. Thanks for the post! Watch the Gene Shallit types to write acerbic, poisonous reviews.

We’ll see, it looked like Apologetica for Liberalism at first blush, but it sounds worth watching.

Finally someone pokes fun at libs after years of having the media making fun of conservatives.
I’m taping this show tonight. I hope it becomes a hit.

Im not a Texan (my brother is) but I find King of the Hill Hilarious! I find it clever and genuine that already puts it ahead of 95% of the crap that’s out there..
For every shot taken at Hank Hill for being stiff his character shines thorough..
And Dale Gribble is the best..

I love it that the scrawny vegan dog (Che) has a squirrel in his mouth. I read that he eats the neighbors pets too.
To: mickey finn
Che is only vegan because they force it to eat vegetables only. It's starving for meat and goes around eating the neighbors' pets.

Yup!
And Ubuntu, the adopted boy from Africa, is whiter than the rest of the family, to their dismay.

Judge mocked the main characters penchant for guns, drinking beer, and other flyover state stereotypes, but never in a mean-spirited way. This is not exactly correct. King of the Hill mocked liberals a lot more than its own main characters.

Sounds like a bunch of no good...
long haired, hippie dope fiends from the loony left coast!
Yeah, Hank! And cartoon series... require such a willing suspension of disbelief. Unless, of course, they are very well written and drawn science fiction!

King of the Hill laughed with its main characters. It absolutely skewered liberals, social-climbing yuppies (like their Laotian neighbors) and the assorted stupidities of modern life. I enjoyed it long after The Simpsons stopped being relevant or consistently funny. I’ll have to check out this new series.
