All I can say is wow! This is a really amazing revelation. I should print this up, frame it and hang it on my wall. I just learned something new today. Thanks.

Could they be trying to get this into the Supreme court before Sotomayor gets in, if it is really a maneuver to do just the opposite of what they appear to be doing?

By the way when does Sotomayor get in, if she is passed, would it be on October first?

So who could have been the Republican fixer in the Clinton/Ken Starr event? Could our ever faithful friend Arlen Specter have been the one?

The Republican senators were clear from the very beginning that they would not stand for the presidency to be “tainted” by an impeachment conviction. Over the course of more than a century, and perhaps two, the senate, as a body, has decided that the president is “above the law”.

The Gingrich house, on the other hand, were not as calcified, and had far less problem impeaching Clinton. And like Andrew Johnson before him, though he “won”, by not being convicted, Clinton was likewise effectively neutered for the rest of his term.

Don’t be too appalled, however. Few Americans could see the real workings of Washington, D.C. and not come away traumatized and appalled.

It's impossible to get this to the Court before Sotomayor would get in. Besides, it wouldn't make any difference if it were her or Souter on the Court, they'd both be pro-gay marriage. For that matter, anybody Zero would appoint would vote similarly.

She would take her seat on the court on the first Monday in October, Souter's resignation is effective as of the last day of this term of the Court, which should be ending on or about July 3rd.
