Criminal offenders, teen moms, dropouts, runaways and other wayward youths will score summer jobs with federal stimulus cash as most Bay State kids desperately scramble to land coveted seasonal gigs in a tight economy.
Requirements for summer jobs:
Lacking basic skills.
Pregnant or parenting.
School dropout.
Homeless or runaway.
Court-involved or an offender.
An English as a Second Language learner or an immigrant.

More of the same....reward the lowest achievers. What happened to help for kids who were bothering to stay out of trouble....forget them!

I remember when John Silber was president of Boston University and had a program for a free college education for incarcerated murderers.
Meanwhile my son did not qualify for any grants or assistance. Go figure.

The world is turning upside down. Rewarding pregnant teens, criminal offenders, dropouts . . .
Of course, some people will be shocked when rewarding this behavior results in more of this destructive behavior.

I sent this one to my kids, some of whom are looking for summer jobs, and some of who have kids who are looking for summer jobs.
They’ve all encountered similar difficulties when applying for college scholarships. Not much money left after all the minorities have been satisfied.
