President Barack Obama's pick to be the top intelligence chief at the Homeland Security Department withdrew from consideration Friday after questions were raised about his role in the CIA's interrogations of terrorism suspects.
Philip Mudd was scheduled next week to face senators considering his nomination as undersecretary of intelligence and analysis at Homeland Security.
He notified the White House on Friday that he was withdrawing his name because he did not want to be a distraction.

On Thursday, Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Mudd's ties to the program would be investigated during the confirmation hearing.
As deputy director of the Office of Terrorism Analysis at the CIA, Mudd had direct knowledge of the agency's harsh interrogation program, according to a congressional aide, who was not authorized to disclose the information and spoke on condition of anonymity.

These idiots must have morale just about as low as it could possibly be at CIA. If I were CIA and had charge of a terrorist detainee, I’d read him his Miranda rights and hand him to the FBI. Why risk a career?

Gut instinct...Mudd was one of the CIA insiders feeding the liberal media the ‘torture’ meme while Bush was president and now he gets his reward.....working in a cushy well paying job for a leftist George Soros/Open Society policy think tank. He sounds like an absolute nut!
It is obvious that they are rolling him out this week to all the networks and papers to push the Obama regime narrative, that’s for sure. He is probably getting paid with Saudi oil money as well. The regime thinks he will have an air of ‘bi-partisan’ legitimacy because he ‘worked’ during the Bush Administration..blah..blah..blah. You get the picture though.
