With his Momma’s milk - and here’s the smoking gun on that line.

Ever noticed the hard core enviro-socialist stench in Nat. Geo. issues?
A girl in my middle school class was named Bell, and she was related to THAT bell. Matter of fact, they had a home at the same beach where my family rented a home for a few weeks every summer.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember what Beth thought about politics, if anything at all at that age.
Why the children of the affluent become prone to socialism has always been a matter of wonder to me, especially considering what happens to such people under socialism.
But, such socialism amongst the wealthy is a matte of record. Google “Fabians”, for example.
Children of the affluent often regard their affluence as unearned, and experience pangs of guilt which is then channeled into left-wing politics.
They are clueless about the means of wealth creation and have no concept of upward mobility, believing that the class one is born into is the class one will die in.
Does “spoiled trust fund babies” come to mind?
Anyway, these treasonous aristocrats deserve to be hanged. Who knows how much blood is on their hands?
My personal theory involves several factors
(1) It is upsetting to be a person of mediocre ability who has a father of great ability. You cannot match the accomplishments of the person who created the wealth you enjoy, and this gnaws at you as you realize that in your college years.I'm going to guess that Myers surgeon dad would have wanted his son to be a doctor too, or maybe a lawyer, or other prominent professional. Myers couldn't hack it. He gets his PhD in European history instead, and becomes a government employee.(2) When you go out into the world, it's worse. Your own abilities are inadequate to land you a job that pays enough to maintain your childhood standard of living, so you either have to live poorer, or depend on your parents to support you, further gnawing at your ego.
(3) The people who do well under socialism are the ones who have established networks of connections with the people who run the government. This is what rich folks do. They go to fund-raisers for politicians, have dinner with them, and interact with them frequently to get zoning variances for their homes, special treatment for their businesses, etc, etc.
Which is why I dropped my subscription a number of years ago.
“Ever noticed the hard core enviro-socialist stench in Nat. Geo. issues?”
Yeah, when I ever had time to look at it. I quietly let my subscription lapse after 30 years.
My thoughts, exactly. This line from the article caught my eye.
the marina in Anne Arundel County where the Myerses docked their 38-foot sloop
Did they ever wonder why average Cubans didn't own 38 foot sloops? You have to shake your head at well-to-do leftists who've lived off the incredible wealth of capitalism all their lives but swoon over the deprivation and misery caused by their socialist heroes.
The children of the wealthy adore socialism because socilaism offers even more privilges to the elite than even the waelthy have in a free country — what the wealthy and the Bolshies have in common is the desire to concentrate capital in the hands of as few as possible — the Bolshies achieve this in a way that even the Rockefellers envy.
