Sniffing Out Obama-Care's Dirty Secrets
IBD Editorials ^ | June 10, 2009 | Phyllis Schlafly

President Obama's drive for government health care began in earnest last Saturday, in thousands of neighborhood house meetings where his supporters listened to his sales talk via a video on the Internet and participated in a live conference call.

Those who attended were given their orders to reach out to neighbors, knock on doors and build a grass-roots network to force Congress to pass the legislation "the same way we won the election, building support one block, one neighbor, one conversation at a time."

Obama's promise that government health care will produce "reduced costs, guaranteed choice and quality care for all" is as phony as a $3 bill. Based on all our experience with government programs, government-managed health care will result in much higher costs, the absence of choice and inferior care for all.

We're already getting a taste of Obama-style government by czars (who happen to be his financial contributors), and now we are learning about government by stealth. The Obama legislative procedure is to write a massive piece of legislation in secret, without hearings, press coverage, open debate or public comment, and then tell Congress it's essential to hurry up and pass it quickly because "we've got to get it done this year."

Only the broad structure of the bill is shared with Congress, while the details will be filled in after passage by the Department of Health and Human Services or by Tom Daschle, who has re-emerged (without a title) as a key player on health care.

He, of course, told them how he intends to pay for it....right? He also told them that he will tax them to the point that they will revolt.....right.

It sucks.

If you can’t afford the expensive, state-mandated plans you are fined. Costs have skyrocketed, and there is an exodus of insurance companies, which was actually what the state hoped for as it gives them the excuse to implement a single-payor system... which is full-on socialized medicine. As a result, a steady stream of doctors has begun to leave the state.

I have vowed to do something every single day to defeat this bill the same way we twice defeated AMNESTY. Today it will be a faz blast, tomorrow an email blast and phone calls to my state and county reps, and this weekend I am hosting an organizational barbeque at my home.

Grassroots and individual action is where we stand or fall on this. If we fall our economy, and our country, will never recover.

It is a little off topic but you raised the question of recovery. Does anybody see how our country can recover from where we are now? It seems to me that before we go any deeper in the hole we need to begin to ask how we get out of the hole we are in and expect REAL answers not phonied up crap we have been getting. Maybe that is the best way to deal with this proposal. I read that with the Medicare and Social Security we have now we are in the hole some 100 Trillion over the next 40 years. How in the world can we work that debt off before we start adding to it.

Elect a massive CONSERVATIVE republican majority, which begins with every one of us calling, emailing, and organizing.

It will be up to our elected reps to then dismantle every last bit of socialized idiocy that has crept into our infrastructure. Strike every tenet of Obamunism. Lower taxes, massive spending and welfare cuts. Build the wall and forcibly expel every last illegal alien. There will be a constant wail of anguish from the left, so they will have to have the guts to get messy.

Or, we just let it fail.

The Obama administration's sock-puppet on USA Today, Richard Wolf, is informing all us peasants that employer-provided health care is a "tax break".

You uppity peasants are just lucky the government gave you a tax break up to this point.

Pray they don't change the deal any more...
