Gov. Bev Perdue will be in Charlotte this morning for a significant economic development announcement, the head of the Charlotte Chamber said Wednesday.
Chamber President Bob Morgan said that he, Perdue and local elected officials will gather at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth floor of 5855 Executive Center Drive.
Morgan declined to say more, but the address is the same as the Charlotte office of the Neighborhood Assistance Corp. of America.
Based in Boston, NACA is a national affordable lending program that focuses on low- and moderate-income families and properties. It offers loans with no down payments, closings costs or fees to customers.
The nonprofit's leader, Bruce Marks, is a self-described bank terrorist who is known for holding protests against banks that the group deems to have poor lending records in minority and poor communities.
Charlotte-based Bank of America has partnered with NACA since 1995 and in 2004 committed $6 billion to its lending program. At the bank's annual meeting in April, Marks praised its chief executive, Ken Lewis, for his commitment to the organization and for fixing problems at the lenders the bank has bought over the years.
See, because the problem wasn't that bad people were getting loans.
The problem was, not ENOUGH bad people were getting loans.
Y'see.
I hope Perdue is not doing any math. I remember when she was talking about NC having a 4 billion dollar deficit, receiving 6 billion in stimulus and still having a 2 billion deficit. Do you listen to take a stand with Matt Mittan? You can stream live. Warning, he may drag out his pom poms for Perdue, but he ALWAYS carries state and local news. I am not sure I will listen to Perdue, because Beck is supposed to beon. But Mittan will certainly be covering it. Funny how he drags out the Perdue Pom Poms, but was critical of her fuzzy math. He is a Libertarian, so you may not agree with all of his views.
Is the same Perdue who ran as the education candidate and then took away the teacher pay raises?
“Neighborhood Assistance Corp. of America”-almost sounds like a front for ACORN.
(I lived in the Charlotte area in the late 80s-early 90s-and in 93 the Observer ran a series of articles about the pressure that “community activists” and their shills at the Clinton DOJ were putting on Hugh McColl and NCNB for “redlining” areas of Charlotte. It was all about the credit worthiness and ratings of the mortgage applicant-but that didn’t matter to the marxists trying to force NCNB into bad loans).
Oh good. Give the bad guys mortgages (they won’t repay) so they can live closer to the better neighborhoods. That way thy won’t have to steal a car to get to their targets.
