I think the comedians are afraid of teasing Obama. The same people who lashed out at Bush are afraid of Obama.
If political humor and satire is their game, they should do it to Obama too. Why wouldn’t they?
Because Obama is the secular messiah they can believe in, and Bush wasn’t.
Because Obama has millions of rabid supporters who will take criticism of Obama as a racial slur.
The comedians mostly live in the big cities right alongside those supporters. Obama supporters are doormen in their buildings. Obamoids prepare their food and clean their homes. Obamoids transport them in their cabs and limos.
The comedians are afraid of meeting one of those supporters on the street and getting knifed to death.
One night I caught Leno speaking about the criticism coming in about his failure to joke about Obama while he lambasted Sarah Palin, McCain, other republicans, their families, etc.
Leno said that it wasn't intentional - there just wasn't anything about Obama that lent itself to comedy or comedic criticism.
This was not long after Obama's flip-flop on the lapel flag pin, his 57 state goof up, Michelle, statements about "First time I'm proud of America" spew, and so many other things just begging for some comedian with guts to poke a little fun at them.
The comedians are like the rest of the media - they have taken so much Kool-Aid they don't even know they have been bagged, gagged and shagged by Obama.
