Among the causes that compelled the Founders to revolt,

King George's intention to establish a tyranny.

Swarms of officers sent by the King to harass the people and eat out their substance.

King George suspended colonial legislatures and assumed legislative powers.

Making colonial judges dependent on the will of King George.

Over 230 years later, we are dealing with much the same problems, except our tyrant is nearby.
