A substantial majority of Americans say President Obama has not developed a strategy to deal with the budget deficit, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, which also found that support for his plans to overhaul health care, rescue the auto industry and close the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, falls well below his job approval ratings.
The poll found a distinct gulf between Mr. Obamas overall standing and how some of his key initiatives are viewed, with fewer than half of Americans saying they approve of how he has handled health care and the effort to save General Motors and Chrysler. A majority of people said his policies have had either no effect yet on improving the economy or had made it worse, underscoring how his political strength still rests on faith in his leadership rather than concrete results.
As Mr. Obama finishes his fifth month in office and assumes greater ownership of the problems he inherited, Americans are alarmed by the hundreds of billions of dollars that have been doled out to boost the economy. A majority said the government should instead focus on reducing the federal deficit.
But with a job approval rating of 63 percent, Mr. Obama retains considerable personal support among Democrats and independents alike.

Given that Obama created the majority of the current deficit, one can certainly understand why people don’t think he’s addressing it properly.
“A substantial majority of Americans say President Obama has not developed a strategy to deal with the budget deficit, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll”
Wow, do you think so? (massive sarcasm alert)

Wow, do you think so? (massive sarcasm alert)
Yeah, I think he’s doing fine, too...what the hell are these people worried about...time for a MORALE CZAR...
The state run media must be very upset that they are not able to hide the truth any better than this.
They will try harder.
This “adults” poll is undoubtedly heavily weighted toward Dems, and yet it shows that he is a flop.
>>The poll found a distinct gulf between Mr. Obamas overall standing and how some of his key initiatives are viewed
Kind of like how Americans view Brad Pitt or Sheryl Crow and their specific views on issues. What does the NYT expect? Americans elected a celebrity-in-chief.
Drip, drip, drip, drip... it’s only a matter of time before Obambi has a sub 50% approval rating.
We need a Happiness Czar. Happiness for everybody! Unhappiness is unpatriotic.
They focused-group him before putting him up as their candidate and found he would be personally popular. His Statist agenda, however, is not going over very well. As someone posted, the MSM will try harder....
Guess all those people who voted for Obama, expecting their mortgages and gas to be paid for have learned they are in line well behind the banks and automakers.
The MSM is going to double down on the One. It will be their undoing.
You betcha....and this article is from where?
“Obama has not developed a strategy to deal with the budget deficit”
Oh, pshaw—of course he has. It’s raise taxes on every wage earner and print more money we don’t have.
Obama has ticked off the gay community... big time... expect to see more sniping like this in the press. The Obama Administration argued against gay marriage citing some rather disgusting cases that do not bear mention here, but can only be recieved as a terrible insult by gays. This was an important demographic for Obama to keep loyal... so Obama’s goose is cooked and he probably will know it whenever his teleprompter gets around to telling him about it.
